Massive hacking of the web planned tomorrow

If this goes ahead. Authorities recently shut down a webpage that was going to host a competition: hack 6000 websites in 6 hours. However, it is believed that so many hackers got wind of the plan that they will go ahead anyway.

Just as a precaution, I suggest all webmasters here make a backup of their site/s.

Im not too worried about AGS. the odds of us being one of the 6000 are pretty slim. Id be more worried for places like amazon, or bussinesses. I bet most of our problems are inside jobs, or 1337-groups that specialize in..I dunno, old pc game page destruction, or whatnot.

so, what Im saying, is dont freak out about it, just be as careful as you normally would.

Yes, one in 6000 IS slim, but there were at the last count 1500 hackers involved. That's nine million sites if they all do it, and that's worrying. I doubt they will get big businesses like Amazon merely because they will be so ridiculously hard to hack.

i have, i met 2,  ones my father, he stoped after uni, he now has a family and runs his own business, the other is a fellow student, he carrys a Katana is will use it if you give him a reason, he is also tanked up, and a nerd.

You only have to worry about your site if it has a windows host. If it's hosted on unix it's alot harder to hack it and I doubt they will even bother to try, because if they're children they probably don't have the skills to hack well and AGS forums are hosted on Unix (don't ask me how I found out). Don't worry, AGS is a small island in a big sea. I doubt they will find it. I doubt any of them even know about it. The only person who would probably try to hack AGS would be kikme and he hasn't got the guts or, it's very likely, the skills.

I doubt that anyone in that horde of script kiddies is a real hacker. Real hackers nowadays work in internet security  making websites bulletproof. No need to worry everyone!

What most pepole don't know, which is terribly portrayed in movies like the Italian Job or the Matrix, hacking one web server probably takes at least 6 hours.

Also, hacking is not cool, and I don't mean breaking the law and stuff and breaking mixnmojo, but I mean you gotta be a pretty sad individual wasting at least 6 hours of your life h4x0ring.

Those aren't hackers. They are script kiddies, a big difference. Hackers are 1337. Script kiddies just go around hacking poorly protected sites saying"look at me, I'm soooo 1337, I can hack and have a 1337 sounding nickname!" Real hackers are mature, they can hack basicaly anything like NASA and stuff and they generaly work in IT and don't hack anymore, they just can,
