uhm...

i have a *bleeep* version of EFMI, and every time i get to disc 2, i only see a drawing done in paint, and some playing sorta cards saying "default"... is this some sort of anti piracy thingy done by lucasarts? if so, its very annoying, but also very funny.
my dad bought the original, but i live away from home, and i don´t have a million bucks to spend on software, so thats why i have a pirated version... (this is not something i´m proud of, don´t go thinkin´ that Grace...)

I think that MI4 killed the Graphic Adventure Genre. If I could re-live my life, I wouldn´t play MI4. You´re lucky, man.

It aint that bad a game, the puzzles are quite challenging (definately harder than the other 3), I won't go into story or character models, but some of those backgrounds were awesome.

who cares if commercial adventures are dissappearing, if it weren't for that, we wouldn't need to make our own, that would be more sad.

and as far as the copyprotection goes, Sorry I have no idea, but you can get the manual here if it's needed

You might also want to try the official patch that was released. I had a lot of weird problems with CD 2 also, none like the one you described however.

You´re quite mature mature for your age Trapezoid, but when you call somebody dork because they say Monkey Island 4 sucks (It does) it makes me think that this maturity is just a mask.

I'm not saying you're dorks because you hate MI4. I'm just annoyed that whenever the game is brought up, somebody just HAS to pipe in and remind us all that they didn't like it.
I specifically chose the word "dorks" because I don't consider it to be a very harsh insult. Sorry if you took it wrong.

No problem Trap, the translation of Dork is quite hard in Spanish, but if your intention was not bad, there´s no need to say more.

And LGM, MI3 wasn´t made by Ron, and it didn´t sucked, but MI4 did IMHO, because:

1) Let´s start with the intro, it rewrites the history, it was never told that Guybrush reached Mêlée island swimming, but, well, that´s not very important.

The textures are crap, have you seen the eyes of the sailors in Guybrush´ ship? They´re made with 8 pixels, you can see the antialiasing and the blured pixel, which was the size of the skin they used? Very small for the quality expected for the game.

Take a look to the sailors... They´re all the same... Are they twins? There was a cloning machine in the world of Monkey Island? No... the artists were lazy asses. They thought that the monkey Island franchise didn´t deserved more work for making different models and nice skins.

Most models are crap... DO you remember the catapultist? That´s not goofy style, that´s simply a model with lack of work. Do you remember Murray? He was three dirty polygons. MI4 didn´t deserved this.

2) Guybrish personality has totally changed in a negative way. He is now Elaine´s pet. In fact, he does the boring work while Elaine is making important stuff in Mélêe. The real Guybrush had some percentage of "bastardish", remember that he picked up Elaine in MI2 just for getting the map.

LeChuck looses also all his personality. Now he is just the employee of a crappy character. It sucked, all the value of villan he earned in three games goes down from the flush.

3)Some puzzles... Eeeer... Well, you say to a shopkeeper the names you see in a sewer and he gives you an item needed to go on with the game? That´s lineal... that´s illogicall... that´s stupid.

4)It´s repeatitive... more insults fights, monkey combat...

5)H.T. history just doesn´t fit with the previous game.

My point was never that you're wrong for disliking MI4. It was that this thread represent's Fizz's techincal problem, and it's no help at all to just butt in with your opinion and nothing else. The topic of MI4's quality is long dead, and if it isn't it should be. I enjoyed the game, but I'm not even going to defend it because that's not what this is about.

as far as Fizz's problem, I'm not sure what to say. Pirated copies aren't always stable, and there's something messed up about it there's probably not much you can do. I think posting screenshots might be a good idea though.

Re read my post and see that my post was refered to LGM, not you. In addition, my wish wan´t to say how crappy MI4 was (again), but LGM says that the game is good. That´s why I´ve posted  my reasons to say it´s bad. Now he can say his reasons to ensure it is good, and we will be friends at the end, as usuall. That´s  discussion, and this is a general discussion forum, I had understood...

Edit: Anyway, I´ve received a casual PM from Pessi... talking a little bit of all he mentioned that I´ve posibly been to harsh, I don´t want that, neither... I think we should finish this MI4 discussion now, but, as I had one post of advantage, flame me and we´ll be in peace ^_^.

LGM sais that MI4 is not bad, which implies it is good.

I´ve been accused in other forums to say that MI4 sucks because it´s "fashioned".
