Here's the stoneborer, with a body on the floor this time, in case that helps. If you do want it on the ceiling, feel free to flip it over.

EDIT: Changed it so that the creature wasn't going out of frame.

EDIT:

NOBLE WARRIOR
Crusading to purge the world from his enemies, only his death will stand between him and seeking vengence.

EDIT:

GIANT CRAB
A giant, amphibious crustacean. It can store large amounts of water in its body for long periods of time, thus enabling it to have etched out a niche in desert climates, as well as areas near water. Its hard, thick shell protects it against attacks as well as the desert heat. Though lagely an eater of carrion, the giant crab will fiercly defend its territory when approached.

Akumayo

ArboriS-  I think I can use the Goblin Knight as a sort of "Guardian" to temporarily block walkways, leaving it up to the main character to defeat it.

Isegrim-  The MiniTroll can be a high level forest monster

Ozwalled- I think I might need to dedicate a whole section of the Credits to you after all this ;D .  StoneBorer can be a cave creature and a Lake creature.  Phantom and Banshee can play similar roles.  Winged-Demon can be a mountain monster, and in the ARMG (Ancient Ruins Monster Group).  Noble Warrior can be a "Guardian" of sorts like the Goblin Knight.  Giant Crab can play as both a Desert and Ocean and Lake creature.  (anything I didn't comment on, I couldn't use)  Thanks again!!

Anymore entries/ character wannabees

Ozwalled

What?! You mean you couldn't use my... um... I mean, THE giant floating head? Not even the angry one?! BAH!  ::)

(I kid, of course.)

Flippy_D

Oz, why on earth do you use screen grabs of the forums as backgrounds? I'm just curious.

Ozwalled

I'm just using transparent backgrounds, so the forum background ends up showing though.

Want more?

(EDIT: Just noticed ArboriS's post with the colour variations. If you want any of the creatures here with alternate colours, and don't have a good, quick way of doing that, I can whip some of those up for ya'. Just PM me with the monster, and colour reequests, if any.)

GIANT FLOATING HEAD
Much like the previous floating head, only more cartoony. And yellowy.

GIANT FUNGUS
These things are usually found growing on recently-used battlefields and feed on the decomposing bodies that still lie there. Their spore clouds can cause nausea and under the right conditions, can even lead to fungal infections in the lungs.

ANGEL
A holy guardian. Usually guard sacred places or try to intervene when man attempts an action that could threaten their god.

UNDERDWELLER
A green-skinned being that lives its live underground. Though they mostly keep to themselves, these creatures do come to the surface occasionally to collect certain resources or trade with folk who live on the surface. Can be mean-spirited and violently protect the holes they dig to the surface (they're very secretive about that sort of thing). (this picture shows one popping up from a hole it burrowed to the surface)

HYPNO-EYE
Giant, floating eyes that use wave tentacles in hypnotic patterns in order to disable their enemies. People under a hypno-eye's trance have been known to kill themselves in all kinds of strange ways, from throwing themselves off cliffs to disembowling themselves.
(or, they could just have really strong tentacles and use them to crush people, too, if that suits you better)

SHAGGY WOOLBEAST
A big hairy mass of danger! Deceptively swift, and remarkably intelligent, the shaggy woolbeast is an animal that's at the top of the food chain for good reason. Its prowess in hunting also make it a highly-sought-after commodity: its warm, waterproof, protective (and breatheable) pelts fetch incredible prices. Warriors and hunters brave enough to battle the woolbeast have been honoured through history for their courageous deeds.

HANDWALKER
The Handwalkers are a tribe of some of the most profficient hand-to-hand combat specialists known. Their combat expertise is such that they opt to fight walking on their hands when doing battle with anyone besides one of their own tribesmen, for the sake of fairness and honour. Even in this awkward-looking position, however, they are more than a match for all but the most skilled warriors. (oh, and they have opposable toes, allowing them to hold weapons and stuff with their feet)

EDIT:

FLAMING SKULL
These lesser demons act as a first line of defense to demons. They exist solely to wreak firey havok wherever they happen to fly.

STONE GOLEM
Usually the product of masterful wizards, they are masses of stone that have been magically given life. Nearly mindless, they are obedient solely to their master and creator. It has been said, though, that some roam aimlessly once their wizard has died. There are even tales of some rogue stone golems who have gone on to learn about their surroundings and who have become quite intelligent. Tales aside, stone golems are massively powerful, nearly impervious to any kind of damage, seem to feel no pain, and are extremely dangerous.

viktor:Ã,  I need 90x90 sprites, thanks for attempting though...

Haddas:Ã,  Made your shirt dark grey and pants dark red.Ã,  Your hair has been trimmed.Ã,  (I am to lazy to upload it though :P )

Ozwalled:Ã,  Oh yeah, your getting your own section in the credits. ;D ;D ;D ....Ã,  Okay here we go......Ã,  Cant use:Ã,  Giant Head, because I can't find a suitable area in the world to put it.Ã,  Giant Fungus,Ã,  I can't see a fungus rearing up and attacking, which is what I need in the Monsters.Ã,  Angel, once again, I don't think it would fit anywhere in the world.Ã,  Handwalker, to cool to be a monster, if this were a bigger RPG, it could be it's own race...Ã,  Ã, .Ã,  Flaming Skull, what is your deal with heads??? ;) ????Ã,  Ã, CAN use:Ã,  Under-Dweller can be cast as a cave and mountain creature.Ã,  Hypno-Eye can be in the ARMG (Ancient Ruins Monsters Group) .Ã,  Shaggy Woolbeast can be a forest and field creature.Ã,  Stone Golem can be mountain/field/cave/desert kind of guy!!Ã,  (Love his description)
PS- I don't think I will need the color variations of yours, or of ArboriS's , I only plan to use one of the variations on ArboriS's....Ã,  Thanks anyway!!!

Everyone-Ã,  I have a pretty much playable demo ready, you can only go about 1/20 of the game so far, but if you want it, I can TRY to e-mail it to you if you give me your address.Ã,  The only monsters in use so far are Sneak, Orange Worm, Man-Eating Frog, and Spide-A since you can barely even reach the forest yet, the credits don't work, and it's a little buggy, but if you want to get a feel for it, I can TRY to e-mail "Batling: Rise To Power, the Demo" to you.

Edit:  Just wanted everyone to know, it will be a .zip file
"Power is not a means - it is an end."

Ozwalled:  what is your deal with heads??? ;) ????

I should ask you the same thing --  you don't seem to even like 'em! Are you one of those crazy headless people I've heard about?

*idea!*

EDIT:

HEADLESS GUARDIAN
Not much is known about headless guardians. Thought to be of supernatural origins, these grey-skinned humaoids possess an inhuman mastery of unarmed fighting technique. The few that have ever been seen have been spotted guarding the entrances to ruined temples, and presumably, whatever secrets might lie within. Few have ever slipped past these diligent sentries and lived on to tell the tale. Legend has it that they are ancient guardians to demonic prisons, as much guarding agaisnt the prisoners as they are agaisnt the intruders. Where their uniform comes from, and what its significance is, if any, is also shrouded in mystery.

EDIT:

AIRSHARK
The sky's top of the food chain.  Thought to hover as a result of hot air in their bellies, the airshark rarely rarely preys upon anything on solid ground. When it does, however, its attacks are usually extremly swift, bloody, brutal and often fatal. When airsharks DO hunt near the ground, it's usually near water, probably since they get confused by the sky's reflection.

EDIT: I think you'd mentionned something about a...

UNICORN
Mysterious and VERY rarely seen, the unicorn is much like a white horse witha single horn on it's head. It is however, said to be a magical creature, and that it has the ability to speak telepathically. Its horn, said to be the source of its magic, and is believed by some to grant its bearer a single wish. Fake unicorn horns are often sold as a result, to people who are none the wiser.

EDIT: And something about a...

GRIFFIN (or is this a Hippogriff... I can't remember...)
The griffin is a powerful, majestic beast, with the head, wings and talons of an eagle, and the body of a lion. Griffins extremely agile both in flight and on foot, griffins are deadly predators with several ways to tear their victims apart. Thankfully, griffins rarely seek out conflict -- if encountered, it's probably because one is encroaching on its territory, near a nesting site. While some griffins have a white, blue and red coloring, it is the golden feathers of the larger, rarer golden griffin that are most highly prized.

GORZA
An evolutionnary cousin to the Bigmouth (with smaller mouths, hair on their heads and less of a mean streak), the Gorza is a primitive race of hunters. Though not very sophisticated, they are strong and more than capable of making basic, but effective traps.

MAGMA MONSTER
Originating deep beneath the surface, magma monsters seem to be composed of magma/ lava. Rarely are they seen above ground, but when they are, these behemoths leave nothing but firey devestation in their wake, before once against melting their way through the crust. Radiating intense heat, magma monsters are barely approchable (I'm thinking that this would be a nifty creature for some fire and/ or earth-controlling mage to take control of and wreak a little havok with).

(a bit of a recycled image, I know, but I think it looks pretty darn snazzy just the same)

And since you seem to be so insistant on creatures with bodies...

OZWALLED (version 2.0)
You know how in RPGs that you defeat a character and then they come back as a stronger version? Yeah, well that's what this is all about. Once your version of Ozwalled gets his butt handed to him by the player character, from his ashes springs OZWALLED 2.0! Oh yes -- you KNOW you want this in the game!... As a secret bonus, maybe?....

...or maybe some assistance would be good?...

---
OH! And I just noticed that your title (Batling), should, I THINK, be spelled Battling (unless you mean it in a "young bat" sense, which would be a-ok).  and for future reference, since I noticed you doing it a couple of times, plurals are not done with an "apostrophe s" (i.e., it should be monsters and artists, NOT monster's and artist's, for example).

Arboris

#72
The Warlock, not only know for it's bad taste in selecting matching colors for its wardrobe but also for his devestating firebolt attacks. These guys float mid air with the shear power of there minds. They never touch the ground to walk since they find the use of muscle vulgar.

Ã,

The Jelly/Drop, No RPG can go without one of these guys! Tiny, small and usually pretty weak. They resist alot of physical damage but can't handle the magic well

Ã,

*EDIT*
Heh, using the actuall heads of the persons in question like that would make it look alot funnier Ozwalled :)

Concept shooter. Demo version 1.05

Akumayo

Remmies- Yes, you can send in more monsters.  Everyone who enters a monster at all will be included in the credits, for example:  Monster Art:  Remmies- Chub Chub
                                      ArboriS-    Goblin Knight, Warlock
                                      Isegrim-    Mini Troll
(this list is incomplete of coarse)

Ozwalled- I can't use Magma Monster because it resembles Rock Golem too much.  Batling is a sport that is pronounced (Bat-Ling)  It is spelled this way on purpose.  Headless Guardian can serve as a pathblocker.  Airshark can be a field and Ocean Monster.  Unicorn can be a VERY rare field monster that gives you a rare item.  Griffin can be a Mountain monster.
I am not going to comment on Ozwalled 2.0

ArboriS-  Warlock can be a powerful cave creature, I know I should use the blob, but I am not going to, sorry

Any more Entries??? ;D :) ;) :D :o 8) ::)

Hm. I'm choosing to take that as a big, fat "yes".  ;)

(oh, and check your PMs, by the way)

remmies

;D ok thanx for clearing that up, also would u like me to enter more than one frame so that the chracter can be animated or do the monsters remain still

Akumayo

Ozwalled-  MAAAABYE I will add the big head as a secret after you have beaten the entire game, but don't count on it, I DON'T LIKE BIG FLOATING (OR ATTACHED) HEADS!!!!  they scare me...... :o

Remmies- The monsters remain still.  So just one frame is needed.  Sorry... :'(

Any more entries, People wanting to be characters, people wanting to try the Batling:  Rise to Power Demo???????????????????????????????????

Here's a few more, of the aquatic variety:

MERMAN
Though they do occasionally spend short amounts of time on shore, mermen are truly at home in the water. They are strong fighters (even on land) and tough-skinned, both due to the fact that hey need to deal with the resistance and crushing weight of the water.

LANTERNFISH
Usually residing in dark, murky depths of water or in watery caves, the gigantic lantern fish lures its prey towards its a toothy demise with the help of a phosporecent "bulb" that grows from a stalk on it the dorsal side of its head. Lantern fish avoid eating themselves by having become almost completely blind and lacking pigmentation.

GIANT JELLYFISH
Usually these gigantic masses of gelatenous material can only be found at the depths of seas or lakes, but sometimes natural phenomena such as unusually large tides or rough storms bring them inland or to the water's sufrace. This is where they can become a real danger: their plethora of tentacles is highly venemous, potentially paralysing nervous systems and burning flesh with digestive enzymes. The sting of a single tentacle usually results in an intensely painful burn, throwing the victim into a frenzy, where they often will get caught up on other tentacles, leading to paralysis, and eventually the shutting down of the heart and lungs.

Isegrim

Never mess with small trolls, they might bring their big brother!

3xsize:

The big troll comes either equipped with a spear (hunter: less dangerous) or with a big axe (warrior: extremly dangerous!).
Hunters are usually loners, while warriors travel in packs. It is not likely to meet one alone...
