What is the use of this post?
It's fun to talk about movies, but to post a list of your D.V.D.'s... ???

Timosity

Well it's interesting to see what other people have, and it also mignt give you some ideas of movies you want that you haven't thought of.

That's the way I see it anyway

So people can brag about the size of their DVD collection, ofcourse!

And you can see someone has the same movie, and start talking about it and stuff ._. or something

Let me see... Here's the collection I have in my bedroom, but I have more in the dinning room. If they're here, is because I think they're more interessant for me than for a familiar audience. The classification (a hard day's night as an Adventure film?), can be discussed...

War films.
The complete "Band of Brothers" series.
Saving private Ryan.
Blackhawk down.
Pearl Harbour (it's about war, love, how to do an inncacurate historical film?)
(Looking for the thin red line)

Adventure films:
Pirates of the Caribbean.
LoTR I.
Matrix.
X-men.
Resident evil.
Deep blue sea.
The Rock.
The recruit.
A hard day's night.
Indy Trilogy.
Gladiator, But Lorena has it now...

Miscellania (Drama/Thriller/Comedy...)
The usual suspects.
Dancing with wolves.
Fight club.
As good as it gets.
Analyze this.
There's something about Mary.
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Hollowman

I'll list what I can remember... (some of these belong to my wife)

TV:

Babylon 5 series 1, 2 & 3
Red Dwarf series 1, 2 & 3
The Tripods series 1 & 2
Robin of Sherwood series 1 & 2
The Tribe series 1
'V' Collection
Fawlty Towers series 2

LOTR: Fellowship & Two Towers (both extended)
Back to the Future collection

Commando
Bill & Ted 1 & 2
Watership Down
X-Men
To Kill a Mockingbird
Dante's Peak

The joy of netflix.com - rent 'n rip.  I've ripped 142 or their movies so far.  Groan all you want, but from the fee I pay monthly, I consider them all my purchased movies.

Rather small, surreal collection, here:

Bought myself:

Akira
A Better Tomorrow
Glengarry Glen Ross (which I stupidly bought without checking the back of the box; it's in pan & scan and has no special features.  Cracking film nonetheless)
The Man Who Wasn't There
End of Evangelion
Road To Perdition
Rollerball Special Edition (original, natch)
Straw Dogs
Witchfinder General

Recieved as presents:

Macross Plus Ultimate Edition
Metropolis (anime version)
Planet of the Apes (original; still haven't bothered to watch the damn thing, as I'd already seen it a couple of times)
The Spiral Staircase

400... nice. How long you been collecting them?
I got my first DVD player late '97 but DVDs weren't very available.  Wasn't until mid to late '98 when I really started collecting.

I have over 500 VHS movies (a lot of which I have repeated on DVD).

One Star Wars comes out in Sept. on DVD I will finally feel like my collection is complete!  (and LotR: RotK).

I used to work at Blockbuster Video (a video rental place to those who might not know!) so that helped me with my addiction.

I have a bigger collection of Video Games (over 60 PS2 games, about 70 PS1 games, 4 GC games, 10 Dreamcast games) than i do movie DVD's.

But i have bought a few DVD's to watch on my Playstation 2.

1. One Hour Photo
2. Austin Powers in Goldmember
3. Analyze This
4. Titanic

not too shabby for a start, huh.  ;D

Las Naranjas

There's a somewhat communal DVD pit with my brother, so if I were to list the DVD's that are in my room, it'd only represent a small portion of what we buy, and to list those in his room would take days. Suffice it to say the range is broad and varied.

One interesting point is that between us we own some 130 hours of animation, from Futurama and the Family Guy, to the Clerks animated series, to The Iron Giant to NGE to every film made by Ghibli.

If you had noticed... I stated that I was extremely bored. :-\

Anyway, i'm amazed that many people have the same tastes in movies I do. Hardly any of my friends like the same movies as me, and I mostly have the same tastes as their older brothers, because we like old 80's stuff (music, movies, the fashion :P).

Forgot another one as well, Fight Club... my god, I love this movie. :)

QuoteUmm... My DVD collection is over 1,000.

Is that 1000 disks, or 1000 titles? Cause I know I've seen several cheap packaged horror films, with like ten movies for five dollars. Just wondering, because 1000 does seem like a fairly big selection.
