My Knee Locked!

This morning I was lying in bed, and I was half asleep... then I moved my leg up. You know, just for comfort, drew my knee up like I've done a thousand times before.

Well my knee didn't like that. It locked. I was like, Huh?

It's just a cramp in my knee, I told myself, it will go away.

So I lay like that for about 20 minutes because I couldn't actually move. If I move my knee at all it would hurt so badly, quite besides the fact I was incapable of bending it at all. It had completely seized up!

I muttered something to my boyfriend about calling an ambulance maybe if I couldn't move by the end of the day. He said, "Nah, it'll be fine" and pushed the other leg down, believing it to be the stuck leg. I warned him, "If you fucking TOUCH my other leg I will fucking KILL you, AND my kneecap will pop off"

"oh" he said.

Eventually I tried sitting up my pushing myself with my arms, but this send a weird pain shooting through my spine and to my knee. I have no idea what that was about. But then I was able to move my knee sufficiently enough to roll over and, tired as it was 6am, I decided to fall asleep and maybe go to a doctor later when I could be bothered.

When I woke up again it seemed fine, I was able to move it, but now the muscles around that leg seem tight, and also the knee feels alittle bit weak if that makes sense. What the hell happened? I really don't want it to happen again... it was scary as hell.

Ouch! :|

You know I got a similiar thing on my elbow once. That was because I had accidently hit it on something before. I couldn't bend my arm because that would cause helluva pain on my elbow. And my fingers were locked too so my hand was useless. It went away after some hours but man it was freaky.

You should get a livejournal.

Haha I'm kidding.

I don't think there is something so serious about that needs to be worried; this may happen if your leg stayed in cold.
But the best thing is to consult a doctor, of course.

Seeing to your avatar, you are an old woman and that attacks are normal at your age.

This happens to me 2 or 3 times a year. I just slowly force it back down. But I always wake up screaming in pain when it happens. Sometimes that is embarrassing. Like when it happened on a cruiseship. I think the family sleeping next door are traumatized for life, as my scream sounds like something between a wight and a bear.

This is going to be a bit offtopic, but let me tell a memory of me.

Years ago, when I was little, I had a nightmare. A giant spider was catching me and my some friends. While running, I have slipped and fell on the ground. And the spider bit my foot and it started getting paralysed in my dream. When I woke up, I was really unable to move my that foot, and it was aching so much.
(Yes, it is really a bit offtopic, but I wanted to share. Also you can have the moral that there is not something so serious to get worried with this :)  )

I googled Knee Lock real quick and came up with this article

http://www.mothernature.com/Library/Bookshelf/Books/16/127.cfm

Your knee is nothing to play games with. I injured me knee a couple years ago and my knee has never been the same. Sometimes it will be quite normal, then other times I will step the wrong way and I'll be limping for a couple days. This isn't related to your knee, but being a person who has a knee problem, it really affects your life.

The worst feeling I ever had when waking up though, was the inability to move anything for a few seconds. Almost as if I was paralyzed for a few seconds. It's actually called sleep paralysis, and apparently it's quite normal, but it is terrifying.

Actually when I was in the army, I had a dream where my brother and I were trying to escape an underground laboratory facility and this monster was chasing us. Well, just as it caught up to me, the army alarm bell went off with the standard hitting of batons on guncases and walls by the seargents. At that moment, I started screaming very loudly (not the girly way mind you) and I ended it after roughly a second when I noticed I was awake. So five minutes after, some of my roommates started wondering and asking around if anyone else had heard shouting. I was quiet :D.

As for knees, I've had a busted knee for some 8 years already. It's a distress injury from the 10+ years I've been skateboarding and snowboarding without stretching. It sometimes locks up, but usually (like right now) it's just incredibly painful.

Sounds nasty :(

Don't think I've ever had that before. Although I do get muscle cramps in my lower legs quite often, where the muscle feels like its going rock hard? If it doesn't relax within a few seconds a dull ache stays in the muscle all day.

Man, its painful... >:(

Man, I've had something like that happen to me, except with my tailbone. It hurt like no tomorrow. :(

I had a dream I was eating a marshmallow and when I woke up, my pillow was GONE!

Hey that sucks Yutzster, this happens to me alot, and I know the reason. I have been skating without any sort of protection for 3 years now, and I've fallen on my knees so many times. Now, everyday I get up, my muscles in my legs are tight, and I have to relax in the pool or else they tighten up more and cause extreme pain in my legs. So, yeah, I know how that feels.
