Here is a competition I am hoping to use in Competitions & Activities

Rules: Basically the the rules are the same as the MS Paint game but you use Flash. For the users that have not played the MS Paint the rules are you draw a picture using Flash then make an idea for the next user to draw. Flash Animations are allowed. Please keep the drawings "suitable" and make sure the Flash Animations are short for we dont want to sit around waiting for 212 entries to load.

Please tell me what You Think Moderators.

P.S Just tell me if i should get rid of the strong formatting.

I think while such a competition can be a creative and inspirative activity, it is quite limited, because of the following reasons:
1. Not every person here knows how to use Flash. (That includes me.)
2. Not every person has Flash. (me neither)
3. It's retrictive as to force the competitors to use which programme  (well, the M$ Pain contest does do the same, however, it's with how far you can get with proposed topics using basic and crappy programme, and it does not has the problems in point 1 or point 2.)
It's quite possible that if you make such a conpetition, only a fixed group of members will ever enter it. Moreover, as long as your creations follows the rules, you can use Flash for the Sprite Jam or the Animation Contest already (even Photoshop contest := ).
So, I don't see a point to add another new competition to our already large list of activities (well, some are not that active compared to others) at the time being.

hmmm maybe if i change the rules to make it more specific if you get my drift.

I agree with Gilbert that this doesn't need an activity all of its own, although I don't think the fact that most people can't enter is a big problem, most people can't make music either. Ã, I think it'd be good for the next animation competition to have a theme and not a sprite to animate, and to encourage people to enter flash animations, hand drawn animations, etc (yes I know the sprite thing was my idea ;)).

Gilbert

Yeah Scotch I agree with you about the music part to some extent.
I can't make music so it's obvious that I won't enter those music contests, however, I don't have a problem with it, as it still opens up oppotunities to vast enough group of different people since people can enter it as long as they can make music (with whatever programme, and saved in whatever formats) and stick to the rules.
For general drawing activities like Sprite Jam and M$ Pain, etc., you can enter as long as you can draw (you can enter, even if you can't draw := ).
However, for Flash competitions it'll be too restrictive, since owning Flash (and knowing how to use it) is some sort of luxury (unless *cough* well...).

Eggie

I agree. A Flash contest is too specific. Just enlarge the scope of the animation contest.

Ok

scotch please lock this topic until i PM you the new widened rules.

Gilbert

We're not talking about widening the rules of a new Flash contest, our opinion is that it's impractical and probably not worthing starting at the time being.
We can widen the rules of some of the existing contests to make them more flexible though.
