Just take a look at the quality of the games that came out for both consoles...

Nes:

Snes:

It should be a no-brainer.

Mr Jake

What a silly reply.
You seem to miss out

Mario.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Captain Planet.

Need I go on? You really can't base a console choice on one game. How silly would that be.

If you wanted to try out the games you could head over to http://www.everyvideogame.com

Good lord, get an NES! SNES might have Final Fantasy IV on it's side, but look at the SNES's port of Super Mario Bros. 2, They ruined it!!

They messed with the music and backgrounds, and don't get me started on the freaking GBA version. ACCK! >:( :( :'(

SMB2 is my all time favorite game across all platforms and genres, so realise my opinion comes with much crappy-port-induced bias.

edmundito

Well, it has the crappy dumbed-down Final Fantasy IV called Final Fantasy II.

Disco

yeah, I forgot, I actually got the better PSX version of it

Blackthorne

I still own both my old systems, but rather than lug them out, I often find myself using ZSNES or Nesticle.

Go with the SNES and get the following games: Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, and Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Trust me, you cannot go wrong with the above.

Dart, can I give you a hug? It's so wonderful to meet people out there with fabulous taste. I should have mentioned all of those in my own post.

Blackthorne

I think Chrono Trigger may just be the best video game EVER made.  I remember when I got it - right when it was released.  I was 17.  I spent a lot of time getting the multiple endings.  I play it at least two or three times a year, on ZSNES, now - all the way through.  I love that game..... I wish Chrono Cross lived up to it.  Sigh.

Eggie

I love my Mega-drive and it loves me...

Kinoko

I never really got the "buzz" with Chrono Trigger. It's an okay RPG but I could never even finish it. I found the controls and gameplay quite annoying a lot of the time, and I didn't see why people went so nuts over it. It's okay but... yeah, I didn't get the big deal.

Babar

Strange, strange Kinoko. One minute you are praising someone for mentioning Chrono Trigger, the next minute you say that it was an average game.

I'm with Eggie. I love my mega drive (II) and it loves me.

Now, with his very own game: Alien Time Zone

I used to love my mega drive when I had one. Now I love the emulator and play all over again the games I used to play. Mega Drive had some of the best platformers around.

Well, it was mostly the other two I love, and I DO like Chrono Trigger, but I never understood why so many people consider it to be such an unbelievably good game. It's good, but not like the greatest game ever, far from it in my opinion. Breath of Fire II and Terranigma are the greast games ever ^_^

Cluey

Well, I have owned "nearly" every console for at least a short period of time.

(Except the NES and XBOX, 1 was before my time and the other was too much of a limited PC)

Well, I dont have the SNES as I only borrowed it off a mate.

I still have my Mega Drive (still works) Master System (God knows) PS2 (Broken, suprise suprise) Gamecube (RE remake is scary) and N64 (Zelda, just wow!)

I can say that the overall quality of most of the SNES games is better in some respects.

Take Sonic on the megadrive, its probably the only classic game that EVERYONE has heard of really.

On the SNES you can name them for ages.

So I'd go with the SNES, not only cos it'd make you more l33t.

SNES, of course. This should be very self-explanatory.  >:(

I also owned a mega CD, that was fun :D never had monkey island for it though :(

Scummbuddy

everytime im at a store and getting so close at to buy an old system i always wanted when growing up, i just realize that there is an emulator for that. I know its not the same, but it sure saves a lot of money.

oh and my sega genesis rocks the house. you all remember this fun pic of me...

and my friend can't be wrong...

Saying no to a sega is like saying no to her. But Dart and Kinoko are okay to say no.

- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.
