So if you didn't know, the world championship match between Viswanathan Anand (current world champion) and Magnus Carlsen (world no 1) is taking place now.

I've been looking forward to this match since the end of the candidates this spring, and so far it hasn't been very exciting, with two quick draws. But there's still 10 more games to go (at least).

Anybody else watching? What do you expect will happen? Carlsen is of course the favorite. But Anand has a lot of experience, is playing in his hometown of Chennai and all around seems to be in good form. I personally think he could put up a good fight.

Hi,

I seem to have forgotten that chess championships still existed... Well, its been about 40 years since I last heard about chess: It was the Spasky Vs Fisher game (laugh)

Looks like I'll have to check it out...

Always liked Anand style, I am sure we will see interesting games (and a few opening novelties).
Maybe it's time for an AGS chess tournament!

Wrongthinker and anticitizen one. Utterly untrustworthy. Pending removal to memory hole.

Aaaaand it' over!
Congrats Magnus!

Being from Sweden, Norway's naighbour, I cheered on Magnus throughout the tournament.

The result is quite ridiculous, 6.5-3.5. But this was a fantastic match, with a couple of really beautiful games. I really feel for Anand who didn't play at all as bad as the results seem to suggest. But still, WOOHOOO!! :-D

On a side note, it was really nice to see Magnus' big smile as he walked away from the board. He is always so proffesional, trying not to let his emotions out, so that was really nice to see. :)
