I recently found out that there is gonna be another simon game, and being a HUGE fan of the original two games I should probably feel uplifted to hear such news, but Im worried they are gonna screw it up like the last one, I mean seriously, that game practically had me in tears, simon the sorcerer fans what are your thoughts?

Took a quick look, and I like the way it's coming out. Well, one can't tell before one plays it himself, but it looks very good.

I personally didn't like the 3d, this looks better than it, though it's, I think, partially 3d. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, I expect this to be a good game, as good as the first 2, my favorites.

I liked Simon, but after some time I got tired of the sounds and the colours... They made 3 more versions? And how' s gonna be Simon 4? In virtual reality? Polytones in spite of beeps?
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

I only actually played the second one for the first time earlier this year, and was pissed off by the cliffhanger, especially knowing I'd have to play the awful and horribly outdated 3D sequel to see the continuation- thankfully there's that AGS 2D version being made! So 4 will have to wait till I play 3 anyway.

Yes, it's 3D, but I think the backgrounds looked pre-rendered and fixed to me, but I'm not sure. So it might be like what MI4 did for MI or Broken Sword 3 did for BS. Oh dear I hope not. (Note: As already said elsewhere, I loved MI4, but it's not got anything on the 2D ones)

Yup, pre-rendered 2.5D. I don't really have an opinion on Simon the Sorcerer, since I never played the two original ones much. Simon the Sorcerer to me always felt like a Discworld rip-off, which may or may not be true. Nevertheless, I don't really care, that's just what I thought back in the day. My point is, that's one reason I never got into them seriously. I do own them, though. Also, I did play Simon 3D for a few days, but it was all and all a horrid experience.

So really, I don't have any expectations about Simon 4.

It's pretty much an everything rip-off. There are some reallyt annoying puzzles in the first two games, too.
Worth playing, though.

Slightly off-topic but slightly on-subject - is there any way to skip dialog/speech lines on Simon 1? I can't click 'em away or press-a-keyboard-key-'em away, and it really put me off the game when I can't even experiment without having to listen to the same responses again and again.
Reach for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.

Kneel. Now.

I'd like to know that too. After a while the voices get to me. But I really enjoy it. I don't know what to expect of 4, the graphics sure looks great.

I just got this game, again. The 1st one. But now with speech and more colours maybe! (I had the Amiga version originally)

Anywho, the right mouse button SOMETIMES skips the speech. Now, can anyone tell ME if there's a button that increases the volume of the speech? I can only find the music volume.

The backgrounds look ok, but not spectacular.
The characters are ugly and sloppy. Simon in particular is unappealing to me.
I think it looks like a bad fan game.
Still waiting for Purity of the Surf II

I swear to the gods - if I see one more of those "haha-funny-cartoony-bent-doorframes-and-closets" backgrounds I'm gonna kill myself. ;)
