i changed them because i was upsetting some people, and noone likes a nasty atmosphere. Doesnt anyone see this? It seems like people are just using this as a chance to argue ... kmon jet, your not proving anything by using that signature...

It says in the rules sticky thread for General Discussion that:

Jet X.L. This is not a discussion about freedom... let me explain to you in a easy way:

EXAMPLE: Let's suppose I have the right to poke somebody in the eye...

1) If I poke somebody in the eye, I annoy him.

2) If he gently demmands me to stop I can make two things:

a)Stop or b)not.

a) If I stop, even loosing the fun I was getting, I'll show that I've been mature and a good friend who can life according to stablished community rules.

b) If I don't, even just doing it to show the powerful of the right of freedom, I wouldn't have any right to answer if the annoyed person tells to me: "Fuck you stupid inmature moron".

I am not saying that to you, but have in mind that if you keep that sign when people has GENTLY told you to PLEASE remove it, you'll earned some enemysties, people will have all the right to it.

I even liked that boobs! but we're not discussing that... we're discussing if we're enough mature to cut our right of freedom when some members of the community gently demmand it.

Now, I'm not going to ask you to remove your signature image, and I'm not going to ban it.

But a wise man once said, choose your battles carefully. If you're wanting to start a crusade on Freedom of Speech, there are far more worthy causes that you could use to do so.

It's up to you whether you want to take on board the wishes of other people here with regard to the image. But think of it this way - suppose you keep the image for the next 3 months and people stop complaining about it. It'll be a win for the boobs, but will it be a win for yourself?



As for images in signatures generally - yeah, I've also been noticing that some of them have been growing rather large. So, rather than disable images in signatures completely, what would you guys say to a maximum size of 600x50 for sig images?

600*50 is just about perfect. The foy sig would fit in those restrictions just fine and Erwin would have to make his just a bit smaller.

My vote goes for a gently demmanding or removing the larger signatures, and see how the people responds...

I am quite sure that everybody will understand that it is better to be considered as a cool AGSer who helps the others the navigate easily through the forums  than a crappy AGSer with a cool signature.

If the people don't understand this... I'll be dissapointed... and I'll vote for the restriction.

I'd go with the limitation because it's a sure bet for future n00bs who will do it without reading that they shouldn't. It just avoids problems.

600x50 sounds to be a very reasonable comprise to me,  providing of course, that the "50" refers to the height .  

Also would it be asking too much that these images not be animated or use anomizers?  Bright colors flashing about make it difficult for an old fart like myself to read the threads and the anomizers really slow things down because of the repetitious nature of sigs and avatars.

that's not to say that yours is exceptionally bad or something, it's just that animated signatures are rarely something that others really notice or care about -- unless it slows down the connection.

I don't know, I used to be on dial up and I never cared about sigs...Eric had a cool pac-man one that I liked, and there are others....

But really, I've been on some other forums where the whole goddamn page was just a list of one line replys filled with huge banners and cheesy animations, so, I can see what people are complaining about....

Ok - well I've added some text to this effect to the top of all forum pages.

If there's somebody who has a larger sig and you find it annoying, please PM them and politely ask that they resize it as per the guidelines.

The other possibility to this would be to add an option to allow people to switch off signatures, so that they didn't see other peoples signatures at all. That would be a shame though, I think.
