The trailer for the new and last PotC movie is released.
http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/piratesofthecaribbeanatworldsend.html

Oddly enough, I can't spot any scenes "borrowed" from Monkey Island. Not yet.
Although, if Jack is mad, he must be Mad Jack the Pirate.

Sam.

I very much doubt this will be the last one, if disney make enough money and they can get Depp back, they will go on making them.
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

voh

On the other hand, as long as they entertain me (and the first 2 did), then by god, make more.

Hellraiser's up to 8 now, and I've enjoyed all of them (though they're getting a bit... weird, to say the least, the last 2 were still delivious pulp horror), so long-running series don't scare me ;)
Still here.

Thanks for the link! Finally I can confirm that I live at world's end.  ;D hilarious.

Phemar

The release date in my country is only May 25 :(

How will I survive?!??

Nacho

I won' t miss this one, I really liked the first 2. And apparently, Depp said he could go on doing this till the 6th movie, which is not an official confirmation, but they might shot more films, that' s for sure. :)
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

ManicMatt

Don't tell me that!

I want it to be a trilogy. I feel that anymore will just feel too rehashed and feel stale. Short and sweet, ta.

Besides, I've purposely not bought the last two on DVD because you just KNOW they will release it as a boxset trilogy pack.

Tuomas

They could always make 2 trilogys with the same subject. Star Wars has 3 trilogies with 2 of them ready. Incase you didn't know. They could just cut the plot and make a future adventures of the son of Jack Sparrow :)

deadsuperhero

Wow, that trailer looks sweet.

Anywho, I really don't mind if they keep making sequels, as long as they don't get worse like some of Disney's "sequels" (The Little Mermaid III? What the hell?)
The fediverse needs great indie game developers! Find me there!

Tuomas

Yeah, they do them for money. But can anything with pirates get bad? I mean look at Peter Pan, now that one never gets old, no matter how many sequels and versions.

Actually, there are books about his adventures as a teenager. I've read the first one, which I enjoyed very much, and I think there are 3 books. It'd be cool to see.

Sorry for offtopic, but it amuses me that you describe the Peter Pan series as never getting old - maybe its just my lame sense of humor. I loved Peter Pan as a kid.

Back on topic, I vote for the two trilogy idea. But not having the second trilogy as a prequel to the first trilogy.

I saw the movie yesterday morning. I liked it so much. But it was less amusing than the 2nd one; this one was more into the action.
My favourite scenes were
Spoiler

*At the beginning, the song of the child and the other condemneds'.
*Elizabeth rowing on Singapore, singing.
*The voyage on the Pole between the icebergs (and especially that polar night; the reflection of the stars on sea)
*Elizabeth running into her dead father.
*That surreal place of Jack before getting rescued.
*-This is madness! -This is politics.
*Beckett's last moment before the destruction of his ship.

Anyone else likes that jack sparrow? He got some funny way of be that makes me laugh almost of just looking his face :)
I play games.

I (and many plenty of people) find Jack Sparrow funny and entartaining; however he is not a dude I would want to be friend with. I think I would be Beckett if I was a character in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Awesome film. I didn't really understand the story, but I just love the setting and the way it was shot.

Not better than the first 2, but good nonetheless.

Anyone catch the scene after the credits?

evenwolf

I saw an article somewhere that Bruckheimer was definitely looking to make more Pirates movies even if they spin-off on other storylines w/o Johnny Depp.

This movie was muddled & convoluted!    I still enjoyed it but it seems the filmmakers don't care if we follow the plot.  They trust that we'll just latch on to whatever silliness they subscribe us to.

What the hell was Cho Yun Fat talking about?

Kinda vague, can you be more specific?
