If anyone else has codec problems, google for a program with the slightly inappropriate name "GSpot" and download it. It should tell you what codec is needed if the file doesn't play.
Saved my video enjoyment at least half a dozen times. ;D

GSpot made my computer freeze many many times and even made my cd-rom drive funny in th end...
For me Codec Pack All in one from
http://www.codecpack.com
worked fine, without installing the gspot. It even stopped some of my porn...er... cultural movie to be upside down. I hate watching movies standing on my hands...

Chicky

hey, i had a problem with my soundcard not liking quicktime movies a whirel back, and ill tell you what jiggery pock hit the spot...

Real One player!

it works wonders, it plays (i think) every kind of media file. Video or Audio. And it has a great feature which tells you about the band's that your listening to... even if you downloaded it.... i mean borrowed it of a friend.

Winamp is by far the best!  http://www.winamp.com for audio or video, I use nothing else  8)

This coulda been solved alot faster if you listened to Las Naranjas right away.. DivX is the most popular codec, and since you mentioned it was "The Fog" it most likely IS DivX

Just thought I'd point that out.

Oh, and, btw..

You boast about your 100th post and this is the first time I've seen you.. Dang.. You need to settle down.

I've been here since this new forum was started (and a year before that), and I've only made about 950 posts.  You've been here, what, 3 months?

Anyways.. I don't want to sound like an asshole anymore and get the "Look Ma, I'm Hardcore" picture posted again (which it probably will). But I just wanted to put my two cents in.
You. Me. Denny's.

I DID listen to Las Naranjas right away. I checked on the computer which codecs were installed and it told me DivX was there and was working properly. So it was the computer's fault not mine. And I wasn't boasting I was just being a little silly, I was happy that I had got my AVI's working properly. Now lets please not turn this thread into a 'lets pick on the n00b's thread'.
You whet my pants...

LGM

I wasn't picking on you. n00b bashing is for elitest bastards/

Welcome to AGS and congrats on getting your AVI's to play.
