Yep, you heard me right!  The old-school NES game of DuckTales is getting a revamp!

It's called DuckTales Remastered!  It's coming Summer 2013!

I've seen a lot of people get excited for this, but I honestly don't see the point.

I don't think it needs a remastered version, the original is almost flawless and very difficult to improve upon. And considering how easy it is to get an emulator and play it for free it seems to be a very odd decition.

The only reason I could think of is if they're planning to expand it somehow (are they? 'cause then just ignore this post and replace it with "AWESOME!! :DDD"). Like for instance how the guys behind Bionic Commando for the xbox360 did a revamp of the original to gain publicity.

Bionic Commando is also on PS3 just saying. And the remastered version is awesome and not made by the AAA Gritty Bionic Thirdperson Ad Placement guys.

It's just DuckTales with cooler graphics and a better sound track I think that's pretty cool. Could you imagine them playing that trailer at some press conference though and everyone just sort of fidgets because no one wants to sing.

Who care about a better soundtrack? The song is still there and is awesome as it was (ok, cleaner I think, but anyhow) and the whole soundtrack from the series was awesome, and the game also...

Are we running out of ideas that we have to keep revisiting the old stories? I mean a good day to DIE HARD?!?!? Get the heck out of here...

I never said it wasn't awesome, but it was made to get attention to the ps3/xbox360 version. Even though it was a sales move they wanted to do the original justice and spent a lot of time and resources on it.
(At least that's how I seem to remember it, was quite excited about bionic commando at the time so I read a lot of interviews.)

The thing about Bionic Commando though is that even at the time it felt limited by the hardware. Making a remastered version of that game I feel made a lot of sense as a result. But Ducktales was made embracing the hardware it was on. The graphics and music were charming and beautiful. And I actually very much doubt that the soundtrack will be better in this version.

I could be proven wrong of course, it could be amazing. It's just that I highly doubt that they'll be able to top the original.

I almost got excited, but then I realized that this isn't the Duck Tales game I played in my childhood. It was The Quest For Gold that I played.

The best thing about this is that it's based entirely on the Mega Man engine, so in addition to them most likely also releasing HD remakes of Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers AND Darkwing Duck we can also possibly expect HD remakes of the original 5 (maybe even the unreleased 6th) Mega Man game!
