Haha! Brittens was very boozy this year, the number of alcoholics has certainly increased since last time :P

As mentioned though, Mittens is decided at Mittens. If you can make a Mittens you can pitch a destination suggestion and we usually decide there and then if it's good or not. That way, we can avoid lots of squabbling over where its held...

Of course you can hold your own mini Mittens in any location whatsoever, but don't be surprised if not so many people attend. As said, people like CJ would probably only choose to go to one, and that is usually the main event. I was amazed though that 17 people turned up to Brittens!!!

It was once the intention that Mittens was a cross-engine gathering, not just AGSers. Someone asked me about that at Brittens, and I wondered - would it be cool to try that again, or host some kind of seperate event? There would be some room for great discussions there I think.

m0ds...if I can see you dress up in that bear costume and do the dance like your avatar...I'd listen to anything you have to say.  I do of course mean, seeing it in person.

But yeah, the cross-engine idea could be cool.  Kind of like a big game dev con.  In the woods*.  With tents.

*Based on Brittens pictures 2005.  Probably not always the case.

Adventure X? :p

would be nice to meet some 'outsiders' but i don't know if id want to spend a week etc with someone i haven't really met on the forums.. i dunno

maybe 1 or 2 days for discussions and people to show stuff off we might miss out on normally

m0ds

Aye, AdventureX is probably still the best option - I'll try and get that organised for Autumn/Christmas time. A couple of days would be fine, you're right it might get a bit strenueous* (sp) if its a week long.

And as for YOU monkey 05 06 07 08 0 999, I dance for no man! But a beat box in some kind of American suburb... :P Brittens wasn't in a wood, but a Mittens/Brittens/Whateverittens would be COOL in a forest! Only problem then is sanitation (sp, again)

*crap

Don't worry, we can employ AGA with a pooper scoop to take care of that.

I think we're going to have to talk and chit-chat a lot more in Adventure Developers and Adventure Gamers Underground in order to bring more non-AGS folks into the picture.

I'd still say Mittenstoberfest! But uh, not like I can see myself being able to go to it! :P

Hey.. I live in a suburb.. And I have friends who can beatbox... IT ALL FITS TOGETHER, M0DSH!

After Mittens, I was considering suggesting a few days meetup at Niagra Falls for the Midwest/Ontario/New York folks. There are plenty of AGSers from each of those regions, and I'd dare Dart to slap me with a trout in real life :D. I'm determined to get a Niagra meetup going before next summer. Does this sound neato? C'mon Arasan, DragonRose, Dart, Eric, BT, (I know there's more).

LGM

Why not just the upper penninsula of Michigan? There's LOTS of forests and campout spots there. Plus it's beautiful.

I'd be too afraid that NIagra would be a tourist deathtrap.

Amerittens will simply be held wherever someone is willing and able to host. Locations really arent important, unless two people are close enough to merge into one region. It's too late, at least for me, to organize anything this summer, and we have a year to decide where these regions might be. I think the emphasis of these events should be a low cost sort of week. As far as I'm concerned, I'm not going to go anywhere I can't drive to in a day. As for any guidlines, naturally, one would expect that these things be hosted by established members (in general a member we can trust). The age limit could change according to the host. But generally, I honestly think the age limit is a good idea just purely on a liability standpoint. We can nail out details as the year goes on. The only trouble with getting down specific hosts this early in the year is that while someone might volunteer to be a host in a year some unforseeable change in their life might prevent them from being one.

As for Mittens being held in different countries each year, I don't think this is feesible. The places selected for Mittens were chosen because there is a strong membership base in that country, and I think one of the major goals is getting more people to come, so while if we go to Hong Kong we might get new attendees, we might not get nearly the amount we had the last years (I'm not saying this is the case, for all I know Hong Kong is a ripe location for Mittens). After so long, it's only natural to come full circle back into other countries already selected. That and it must be hell on CJ's wallet to do this every year.

I hereby express my liking for the Holland scheme, and I'm sure Mozesh would too.
