Well that's good then.  I'm glad that he writes songs and has his own material.  That's something you don't see very often in pop music.  I wonder if it's any good.

Bo is a rocker 'cause of his style.

If he wore baggy pants and had chains and lots of piercing and tatoos he'd be a punk.

If he had pants hanging down to his knees with his ass hanging out with gold teeth and hat on sideways he'd be a rapper/hiphopper.

Rock is the last vestige of hope for the music in America.  Bo is a shining light in the dark!!!

I don't necessarily agree with that. Bo is a rocker because he makes rock music. Sure, his look goes along with how most rockers look, but that's not what makes him a "rocker", it's his music. Same with those other examples. Someone who raps is a rapper, someone who makes punk music is a punk. It's not the way they look, it's the music they make, or the music they enjoy.

I was attempting to be funny :)

Just because most of the music that is popular (in America at least) is just cookie cutter crap.  And Rap is probably the most popular 'sound' in America and it's just worthless drivel.  I call it 'sound' because, in my opinion, it's not music.

Bo is most definitely a rocker 'cause his music is rock :)

I used to think the same way about way about rap, and while a good majority of it is mindless drivel... there really are some great lyrics out there.  Eminem writes some pretty amazing stuff.

Sorta along the same vein, I was thinking the other day how much pop music sucks, like Britney Spears or whatever it is the kids listen to, but then I thought about how much that must sound like the sterotypical old person response.  You know, like how old people in the thirties were like, "Jazz isn't music, it's noise."  Or like how old people in the fifties where like, "Rock n Roll isn't music, it's noise".  Or like how old people in nineties where like, "Rap isn't music, it's noise".  Of course, a lot those sentiments seem ridiculous to us now.

The question is, is my repulsion to music on the top 40 a result of my being old (at a ripe 24 yrs of age) or is it really just crappy music.  You can try and stay true to some kind of relativism, but I'm not sure that Britney will be accepted by future generations as say a Miles Davis is...

It's so hard to tell anymore if people are serious about things like that. Isn't that sad?

Awwww...your saying that because too many people like it, it is not worth anything.
There are undoubtedly great rap songs. No one can dispute that. There are also undoubtedly very crappy rap songs. No one can dispute that either. But it is the same with every genre of music. Just because you probably have heard more crappy rap (heheh..that almost rhymes) than good rap is no reason to condemn the whole genre.

I'm saying it's drivel because the rap and hiphop that is popular these days is shit.  It's just simply crap.  Now a lot disagree with me, obviously given its popularity, but that's still my opinion.  Rap started out great ... now it doesn't make mainstream unless it's gansta rap thug crap.

I just don't see anything good coming from it.

It's not me getting older and it's not a thing against black people.  It's just me against a crap form of 'sound'.

Sylpher

Rap has become as diverse and hard to sort through as punk and hardcore in the early 80's. There is a lot of good rap out there, but it requires quite a deal of digging to get to the gold.

Blackthorne

Jimi Hendrix rocked.

Robert Plant rocked.

Bo poses.

But, he poses well.
