For me, this community is place for me to hang out with people also interested in adventure games. People who won't respond "huh?" to the word "Lucasarts" or "Sierra".

Yeah I ahve been here for about 3 years. I'm not much of a poster, but everyday I check out the forums and see if anything interesting is happening. People probably don't notice me so much, but that doesn't really matter I guess. I tend to just blend in in real-life too. I don't participate in too many discussions, but I enjoy reading them. The reson I come here is the community I feel here, and the interests of the people here. I check out a few other forums, but I never spend as much time on them as I do here.

One day I might make a game that has more quaity of the game I made when I first found AGS. I feel that I don't really have time to make games, but I have time to go on these forums. I guess reading forums requires less brainwork, and Is a way to relax from long days at uni.

I don't read the forums as often as I used to, and probably don't post as often, not that I ever overposted. But I still have a brief look most days.

I don't know what keeps me coming back, I don't feel like I've climbed up any ladders in the community or am anymore respected than anyone else, but that's the way I like to think.

I have an addictive personality so I guess that's another reason I come back, I have a busy work life and a decent social life, I play sport and I'm not a typical computer nerd type, it took me a while to get used to posting here cause I thought it was a bit nerdy.

I made my first game before even registering (or posting) on the forums, which is pretty rare. although I did use the technical forums to find answers, and had used the forums for over a year before I joined to keep up to date with any new games released to play.

The forum has given me a place to learn about other cultures, and also realise how similar a lot of cultures are when it comes down to it.

It's a good mix of people, I've never really had a problem with anyone, although I'm hard to piss off, and I'm good at ignoring what I don't care about, or don't want to get involved in.

I don't feel I've made many close friends and I've only physically met 1 other AGSer (Las Naranjas) I guess that's just the computer thing, it's hard know who actually cares about you, but I don't express myself to other people that well either.

I have rarely used irc or any other chat thing, I guess I prefer to have conversations in person, and forum communication electronically.

Anyway, I'm on holidays for about 3 weeks now, so after this weekend, I'm hopping in my car, heading North along the coast, pity I have to come back on the weekend to play cricket, but I'll probably head off for a second week if I feel the need (sorry to add in the last part but I'm so excited at the moment and I really deserve this break)

The community has given me somewhere to go to kill time. Without it, I undoubtedly would be sitting in front of my computer screen playing minesweeper, or something similar, just wasting my life away. At least here, it seems like I am doing something, instead of just wasting away. The community has inspired my creativity.

It's really a great place. I don't take part in it nearly as much as I used to, but I almost, without a doubt, check the forum everyday. Mittens was a great experience, easily one of the best times I've had.

The community has also yielded a resource of people who could concievably help me in my dream to actually make a commercial adventure game, and, with any luck, make a living out of it.

It's just a fun place for me to go. I've learned, I've matured (somewhat), and I've enjoyed my stay.

The community also has given me herpes...but it's worth it...

I have learned a heap about adding depth to my art and writing aswell as design - but mainly it gives me insentive to work - where before I had none.
Being around inspired creative people inturn inspires me to create (or some such nonsence).

I used to fool around with "making games" many long years ago (Back in the old Vic-20, C=64 days)

The community has proven that even by Adventure fan standards I'm nerdy, but it's also shown me that internet forums aren't as objectionable as I imagined they would be (or at least that this forum isn't as unpleasant as I imagened all forums would be).

Also, I suspect Andail might have a Popular Thread on his hands here...

"The community also has given me herpes"

Damnit, I was about to make that *exact* same remark! Right down to the disease. Though admittedly I wasn't going to use the word "also", so I give you full credit for that.

Anyway, I wouldn't really call myself 'a part of the community', but I've gotten quite a bit out of these forums over the last couple of months. Same old story, really: like a lot here, I was interested in game design as a kid but drifted away from it over the years. AGS and these forums helped to switch that part of my brain back on.

Also, this might be the only game related forum I've ever found that isn't filled with either incomprehensable idiots or just people who have practically no respect or interest in any game made before 1998 or thereabouts. So it was quite refreshing to find a community of people who are consistently smart and often have interesting and well expressed thoughts and insights into games of all eras, game-design and various other creative outlets.

My only complaint is that this general forum strikes me as being a little reserved and overly restricted to computery issues - I often get the impression that lots of people here would have plenty to say about all kinds of varied subjects, but just aren't really saying them. But I guess you can't have everything.
