Well, I think we've had a lot of religious threads lately, and so why don't we take a secular break from all that and sit down to talk about Spider-Man 3. I thought I'd start this thread because we usually have threads for all these big, blockbuster hits (Like Pirates 3, and Star Wars Episode III, etc).

So... pretty much the same stuff as in the other movie threads- speculation about the movie, comments on the other movies in the series, that kind of stuff. Please try to stay out of the religious talk altogether (unless it's used to prove a point in some way).

I hate Star Wars Ep 1,2 & 3. They ruin the real ones.  >:(

I got mixed up blah. Stupid George.

Sam.

So you consider the new episodes to be the real ones? I think one of us is confused.

Im seeing spiderman 3 on Saturday, so i'll review it then!
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Steel Drummer

I'm hoping to see it opening night, or Sunday, but I probably won't end up seeing it until later.

I have to say that I really don't much care for movie adaptations of comic books. I can't remember much about the first in this newest series of Spiderman films, but I do remember that it wasn't great. The second was poor. The third will probably be bankrupt. IMO! LOL!1 :P

IMO, the Spider-Man series was actually one of the best comic book-to movie-films I've seen. It sure is better than Fantastic Four.

Howard the Duck is better than Fantastic Four.

The Spider-man movies were appaling, IMO, because most of any one movie is just romantic dross. I hope 3 will be a bit better, (I'll watch it soon) 'cos it'll be with Venom, and that's the only reason I'm going to watch it.

This has been out for a few days here and I had planned to take my nieces and nephew yesterday, but some things came up and I had to cancel on them.  Hopefully I'll be taking them tomorrow.  I'm pretty excited even though I wasn't a huge fan of the first two.

That's what I want to read from you mate. So everything going well huh? :)

Yup. I'm a fan of spiderman for almost 18 years now... The movies are a must for me. IT was pretty close to the original comics, the proper guys were credited (ahem), and evreything is fine. It is a good movie. I won't go if something is better or nto, but SPidey, along with Harry Potter and a couple of more series, are the ones that I do go to see on the theater, while, for example Star Wars I didn't. Though this is highly peronsal of course.

Blackthorne

I wasn't as impressed as I was with Spidey 2.

It's good - but I thought Spiderman 2 was better.

I don't like all these newer super hero movies. I just don't get that good feeling when I watch them. The feeling I get when I watch those good old Batman movies (not Batman begins). Some how those newer movies just don't do it for me.

It'll be the worst of all i think. >:(

and I think after all those I wont like this movie.
But first i watch it then I post a reveiw. ;)

"Man, what is this, the third super-villain in a row that has used this fug Mary Jane Watson chick as Spider-bait?"

"Yeah, I wonder if there's some reason for that...  Maybe we could check out MJ's friends and family to try and figure out who Spider-Man is.  Then we could sell the info to J.K. Simmons, the shining light of this film series, for some cash."

"Well, we could do that, but it would probably involve... y'know, looking at or talking to her.  And I don't know about you, but I've never seen a movie with a less appealing leading lady.  Both the character and the lady playing her are repulsive on multiple levels.  Hey!  Remember when we watched the first movie, and when Parker asks MJ how her audition went she tells him that they said she needed a few acting lessons, and then the whole audience started giggling and nodding in agreement?"

"Yeah, but..."

"And another thing, in this movie, how come the only villain who wasn't paper thin was the one that was also not cool or really threatening in any way?  I mean... flying snowboard?  C'mon!"

"Stop breaking the fourth wall!"

"You did it first with the J.K. Simmons praising."

"Yeah, but he rules."

"Yes he does.  Yes he does."

Spider-man phenomenon has always been a mystery for me.

A man in tight costume spitting goo from his sleeve? Jumping on buildings?
And always in a jerkish pose, like he had trouble standing up?
It's always triggering my tiny homophobic brain cell...

And it's almost impossible for me to watch seriously the movie without start humming ancient naughty techno tune:
"Face down! Ass up! That's the way we like to --"

Same here, and I am not really agreeing "per se". I went to see the movies without reading this thread, and had that same impression when I went out of the cinema, I was not influentiated by anyone' s opinion.

I felt that the Parker' s inner conflicts were not so serious in this third part.

Also I was a bit lost in the fight scenes, too much 3d, too much subjective camera... But that' s something I am sadly getting used to in the last few years. I would preffer slower, but more clear fight scenes, such as Troy (as an example) which also used a lot of 3-d scenes, but looked less exaggerated.
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!
