I miss the days when By the Sword was eagerly anticipated. :(

I miss the days were mods and I were mates and he couldn't believe my age, so I had to send a scan of my id.
Though I do not miss the day, when I screwed up the Vestibule  ::)

Oh... and I miss the GODS of AGS, who even had a closed subforum and never released anything ;D

I remember when the AGS editor was all in Sanskrit, when animations were all about wooden puppets hanging by strings, when you had to pray to Thor before attempting to compile your game, when CJ wore a beard and had six arms and only assisted you with technical questions if you sacrificed a goat, when Helm could still not speak but only wave his hands, and when the forum was a place of trampled earth, surrounded by monoliths on top of which rested six black ravens.
Those were the days!

I do miss my early ags days, despite they weren't on the good AGS age. When Duckbutcher was working on DrWho, when Spooks was just coming out. When Nikolas posted more around here, when Helm ..(no wait I don't miss him), when ManicMatt was POSTING around here. They weren't much the days, but they meant something. When Ashen was posting in the beginners topic, when Rui was around here more often.
Worked on Strangeland, Primordia, Hob's Barrow, The Cat Lady, Mage's Initiation, Until I Have You, Downfall, Hunie Pop, and every game in the Wadjet Eye Games catalogue (porting)

Haha, Domino, that's hilarious. Too bad I wasn't around here back then...

What's wrong with the new days?

Looking back everything looks all glitzy, sure, but most of that stems from the fact that I had way more free time on my hands than I do today. I could make five posts and feel like I accomplished my life's goal for the day. Now, I'm prouder when I draft a post, and then decide not to send anything at all.

There's always a feeling of exhilaration when we find something new and shiny, and then as time passes its luster begins to lessen. I can't think of any organization I've been in for a number of years where I didn't, for some reason, miss the past. At some point you have to come to the conclusion that the forums (or any organization) haven't really changed much, you're the one who's changed.

Unless, of course, you came from ezboards. In that case, everything has changed, and you should completely miss what we had.

Well, I for one couldn't imagine the times where I wouldn't have been able to use neat features like alpha-transparency, an object limit above 20 and so forth..  ;)

and...your opinions are?

Well, I wished I discovered this community sooner. :P For some time now I get to this site to play a short game whenever I feel down a bit, and it helps. But I could have used it more years before.
Only registered recently, when I was sure I could make games myself. But still get the feeling I missed out. ;D
Life is like an adventure without the pixel hunts.

I still pop in from time to time. Truth is, life happened. Lot of crazy things went down the last couple of years. But, perhaps some day I will actually make a cohesive game with replay value.

Someday.
