Who else is excited about Captain Rainbow?

Anyone? Just me? That's crazy.

It's a new game by the always-amazing company Skip. Perhaps you were lucky enough to play Giftpia, or Chibi Robo, or the bit Generations games, or LOL. Skip are an incredibly creative game company and if you've had the pleasure of playing one of their games, you'll probably be on your way to discovering why news of Captain Rainbow tickles me gently in all my favourite places.

You can learn more about it here, if you try.

I actually haven't found myself so excited about a game all year. And who even knows when I'll get to play it, seeing as it's currently only a Japanese release. REGARDLESS, my veins still course with anticipation. My soul is still just a little brighter for this game existing. I find myself excited just about being excited about this game. It's refreshing.

Do regale me (and indeed, us) with tales of what games in recent times (perhaps so recent that they are current times) have similarly given you a figurative (or literal) stiffy.

I can't  think in a game that excites me less than Captain Rainbow....
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Well, Chibi Robo was groovy, and Skip's stuff for bit Generations was mostly good. Not too familiar with Captain Rainbow.

Little Mac from Punch Out! is in it, though. Score!

How can you not dig this?

The only thing is, I keep reading stuff like this.
QuoteLittle Mac from Punch-Out [...] and many more of Nintendo's most forgettable characters are all on this island with you.

Little Mac? Forgettable?
Pah!

I've never played anything from Skip before, but Newtonica looks... interesting, from what I've seen on Eegra.

Also, that's a great picture you drew there, Kinoko.
I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out.

I'm tired of pretending I'm not bitchin', a total frickin' rock star from Mars.

I don't know what the lyrics to that song are, but there's something in me that automatically endears myself to games which have their own song.
So what do you do in this game then?

One of the reasons I like the Ganbare Goemon games so much. ;D

I don't want to know what Captain Rainbow is about, if I'm never going to play it!

Instead I shall remain excited about Fallout 3 and Fable 2.

And So Blonde looks cool. Although not making me gibberish with excitement like Fallout 3.

(Well at least I didn't say Gears of war 2, okay?!! Which I won't even buy..)

Thanks! It's a present for Kenichi Nishi, who wrote and designed most of those games. Yyyyep, he's my friend. */subtlety*

I was really happy to see Birdo feature in the game, he/she's always been a character I really liked. I think it's a really nice touch, having all of these lesser-known but fondly remembered game characters referenced/playing large parts in the game.

LittleBigPlanet has me giddy with anticipation. Fallout 3 as well. Plus InFamous and Prototype because superheros kick arse.

This is the second-best thing I have read today, and the other thing was the best thing I've read in months

When it comes to gender and sexuality, Japan has a nice tradition of making it weird.

Have you seen the interviews with him on Eegra?
It's pretty interesting stuff.

He looks like a gay pride Superhero.

And now reading the wired blog about it, I'm even more scared.
I am Jean-Pierre.
