Totally awesome indeed ... if a bit creepy!

It's wierd to think about what's down there. Ã, I saw a special on the History Channel about the catacombs and how there's still parts undiscovered and unknown.

I love the, "Don't try to find us!" bit ... talk about spitting in the face of authority.

Sounds to me like the Cataphiles are a little more developed and organized than they thought!

I must say there's part of me that wishes I hadn't seen this ... 'cause Sara and I are planning a trip to Europe next year and now I know I'm just gonna get myself in trouble looking for these things ...

My guess this comes from Thrik? :p my friend copy and pasted from an irc channel with those links ._.

"There exist, however, several secretive bands of so-called cataphiles, who gain access to the tunnels mainly after dark, through drains and ventilation shafts, and hold what in the popular imagination have become drunken orgies but are, by all accounts, innocent underground picnics."

Heh.

Oh wait, you didn't mean me.
The first thing I thought of was the Last crusade at the entrance to the catacombs, with all the skulls. Only the second link made me think Broken Sword.

Well, yes, obviously.  The second link was the actual thing I was referring to, the first was just context.

Actually, the paris ones are nothing compared to the ones under the vatican, only 60% have been explored in rome.

remixor

But do they have secret society cinemas under them?

I can only imagine what the papal state hides in them, there was some saint guy they found in them for the documentry I saw.

I have been to those Paris catacombs, and let me just say.... it is really creepy. Awesome, but creepy. And sobering.

Yufsie Esq

Man, I did boring stuff in Paris.

Ali

I'm there!

Actually I'm here, but If I had more money and time, I'd be watching films noir in a secret skull lined cavern.

Paris is now top of my 'places to go underneath' list.
