AGS banner

I was just looking at the banner and wondering if it was time yet to re-do it. Bring it up to date, and give some OTHER games a little free advertising...

I guess it'd be a lot of work though...

I agree. It's easy for me to agree, though, since I won't be doing any of the work. But I think a new banner is in order. We have several new games. The question now becomes, do we still leave the character on the banner and just crowd it in a bit more? Or do we make a brand spanking new one and only include the characters dearest to us?

To start off with, what do we consider classics? There's Larry Vales, Pleurghburgh...any others?

But I say we hold this banner thing off until every member has created a game, that way every game can have a place on the banner, I mean, come on , let's be fair.

Perhaps we should use AGS awarded games. So wait till the awards are through, and then make a banner.

how can you possible say any game is a classic? the oldest game has only been around for a few years...

you'll have to call them preclassics or everyone will mock you

Yeah, maybe like Mills said, but have 3 from each years awards including 2003 when done. Just so it's some of the old & new.

The only problem is which games get to star, who decides? this will cause debate in itself, but I guess atleast 'best game' from each year.

Maybe we should change the banner annually?
Like, each time we have the awards, fling together a new banner showing all the winners? Or would it be too crowded?

Wouldn't it be possible that everyone can submit a banner of his own favourites and let the website decide every day, which one it displays?

Yeah, I guess the current banner is getting on a bit now, it probably should be updated with newer games.

That rotating banner idea is cool Lucasfan, I might do that for the forums - but I think it's best to have one consistent banner for the actual website.

Based on this idea - perhaps what is needed is several (4-5) banners, and every time it loads one of them would be picked randomly.

Banners by categorys:

- Preclassics, the most highly rated, the most played, like the games on it now.

- New games, this years suprises, games by newcomers that really exceeded all expectations.

- MAGS games from the past year, some of the winners, some runnerups, suprises, etc.

- A game from every category in one banner.

- A "character" or "location" banner, where would be scenes or characters from games, and the alttext would display the character/location names and games.
