V for Vendetta

I had no idea what this movie was about when I went to see it, but some friend had read the comic and wanted to give it a shot.
I expected another repetitious comic-book hollywood-ization, and was immediately disappointed after V's speech (the V-monologue) some minutes into the movie.

Then it just kept getting better, and in the end I considered it a very refreshing concept, altogether a brand new movie experience compared to the countless Marvel mainstream movies they spit out on regular basis.

I give it 7 out of 10. It was unrealistic and a tad dramatic, but the message was relevant and the acting superb, and the toned-down effects and settings (reminiscent of A Clockword Orange) were atmospheric and quite a relief after the Matrix extravagance.

Yeah, I, too, thought, that wasn't half as bad as I expected it to be. V for Vendetta was very entertaining.

It was simply OK. Apparently atrocious Wachowski brothers writing.

The acting was the only redeeming value, as the effects were tired and done to death in many movies before it. Interesting concept, mediocre execution.

Alan Moore is an amazing writer and I was disturbed when I heard that the adaptation was directed by the W. Bros. Why should the only directors that can make a fight scene boring and unfulfilling (see matrix Reloaded) be saddled with translating such a classic graphic novel into movie form?

I'm pretty sure they stole the script for the original Matrix from someone else. Their other stuff just isn't on the same level, and even seems like a poor imitation of the original.

BTW Eggie, that comic is pretty long for being illegible. If you want to make a point badly enough you drew a comic, I would think at least you could translate it into font type, in case someone wanted to read it.

The main thing I liked about the comic [It tended to get get into Moore's typical mires at times unfortunately] was the way the creators had managed to create a fascism that had an inately British character about it, rather than being Nazism transplanted onto Britain.

Hopefully that came through on the film.

I thought it was great. 9/10. (Then again, the last film I saw was Ultraviolet.)

- I got it into my head that V was being played by Rowan Atkinson

I noticed Alan Moore's name was absent from the credits, and surmised he wasn't happy with the adaptation. But it seemed to have been improved over the comic in some ways.

- Eve no longer a teenage prostitute.
- Although he wears a Guy Fawkes mask, his target is 10 Downing St in the comic, and the Houses of Parliament in the film.

I'm going to watch it and I hope it's good.
I must say that Sin City is the only comic-movie I've really enjoyed so far and I find find it hard to believe that the Matrix-brothers will ever top that. But then again, less could still do it for me...

Watchable, but a little too artsy-fartsy for my liking in the direction for my liking.  The idea behind the plot was interesting, tho.

You should read "The Invisibles" by Grant Morrison, it's widely reported to have been on set during the making of the movie and there's a lot of very suspicious similarities between the two. It's been said you could cut all the panels of the comic out, rearrange them and more or less come up with the matrix.

Pretty much my favourite comic ever. A little flawed and difficult in places, but still a really rewarding read.

I just got back from watching it. I think it  was a pretty good film.

The final-fight scene seemed a little gorey for the sake of being gorey though

I heard that the creators of The Invisibles were very unhappy with the brothers with the literal rip-off their storyline and plot.  I think some form of court action was taken actually, but don't hold me on that one.

Just saw this movie and Im gonna go with Steve on this one.
Was a really fun movie to watch, I enjoyed it a lot.
