Let's all hunt down and kill McCartney. He made the ending so thoroughly tacky it was like that was his intention. The Arctic Monkeys were a random feature and the Queen looked miserable yet again. Did anybody else see the salute by that man as the German team walked out? I know it is the Olympic salute but it was a bit of a faux pas under the circumstances. Those were just all the bad things I remember though, apart from that it was really good, what did y'all think?

I was surprised when the Queen parachuted in. The Royal Family should do more things like that. I wonder if they'll fire Prince Charles out of a cannon for the closing ceremony. Or maybe Harry can jump his motorcycle over a dozen school buses.  ;-D

Stupot

Loved it. I really thought it  was going to be an embarrassment, and the way it started, with the cricket and the sheep and the rainclouds, I was cringing, it was so awful. but around the time the industrial revolution bit happened and they were forging the olympic rings... That bit was awesome and everything else that followed was just super, even if McCartney did fuck up the beginning of Hey Jude.

I'm not usually very patriotic, but today I was proud to be British.

None of you mentioned Rowan Atkins? And you call yourselves British.

I thought it was great. Though I don't quite understand what the whole pop song medley/love story was all about. "What's a good idea for an opening ceremony? I know! An awful teen movie musical :D".... Also, McCartney was awful, I agree.
Otherwise it was really good, I didn't think the opening was too tacky at all. It felt really epic. The Rowan Atkinson bit was amazing and made me wish Mr. Bean would come back.
