strange, because for teleportation you do not need the mud. Only the amber stone from the oracle, wand etc and cast the spell. I used this spell many times. The mud is only for the preparation of the storm spell and you need it only when you are close to the end of the game. Do not waste it...

That's right, but
Spoiler

I had a spoon with mud in it and used it to cast the storm spell. I then went to cast the teleportation spell, which I wasn't able to cast earlier because I didn't have the stone, but the spoon was no longer in my inventory.

Presumably I need to cast the teleportation spell first, which uses the spoon for salt and then, I would imagine, leaves it free for collecting swamp mud for the storm spell.

As it stands, it looks like I'm going to have to go back to a very old save game before I collected the swamp mud, losing 100+ points and a several hours of gameplay, or even start all over again as I have reused many of the save slots.  :( If I have to do that, at least I'll know what I need to do this time round and hopefully it won't take me too long to get back to where I am now.

I hope this is a bug rather than deliberate. If it is deliberate, it makes this game extremely unfair, in that an action you take early on can lead you to an unavoidable dead end much further down the line. I don't know if the Sierra games worked that way, and I appreciate that this is a remake of a Sierra game, but isn't there an unwritten principle that games made with AGS should be fair to the player?

Fizzii

It might be a bug... it is a bit strange that you lose the spoon after casting the storm spell even though it was just the mud that was used. Maybe try asking at IA to confirm (http://www.infamous-adventures.com/forum)

Though you can play the game without casting that spell (on the other hand, you miss out on a cool ending if you don't get full points)

Athirwen - don't follow the path to the left side of the rock. When you're at the bottom of the rock (on the lower part of the path), just try walking upwards onto the rock, and Gwydion should climb up.

Thanks, Fizzii. I've posted a message to Infamous Adventures... let's see what they say.

Spoiler

I'll go back to before I cast the storm spell and see if I can cast the teleportation spell even though the spoon has swamp mud in it. If not, I'm going to have to go back to near the beginning of the game or start again.

Spoiler

I went back to before I had cast the storm spell, and continued from there. Despite there being mud in the spoon, I managed to cast the teleportation spell successfully, and I still had the spoon of swamp mud. I could then cast the storm spell without any problems.

Looks like I did find a bug, then.

I got a reply from the IA boards:

"I might be wrong but i dont remember that the teleport spell required the spoon. Though is [sic] says one spoonful of salt, all you need is the salt, the mistletoe, the amber rock and the wand.

"Try it out."

Well, it didn't work for me. Maybe I was doing something else wrong.

Anyway I'm now

puzzling out how to get on to the pirate ship.

Maybe. I just played through the spells, and even though you do lose the spoon when casting the storm spell (which is a bit unrealistic, granted), I could still cast the teleportation spell without any problem despite not having a spoon.

I'm trying to get off the pirate ship. I have my things back and they've dropped anchor. I've tried the various things mentioned above but they don't seem to work:

* Teleport - just gets you into trouble because you can end up with the cook, and there's no escape from him.
* Jumping overboard - I take it this means from the stern of the ship, as there doesn't seem to be anywhere else. Well, the shark is still there, and if I click on the water, it says that it's unsafe. I tried feeding the shark, but that didn't do anything.
* Looking at the map - I can see the beach, but don't seem to be able to get to it using the map.

If you hang around for too long, the ship sets sail again and you're doomed to being a cabin boy for ever.

So how *do* I get off the ship?

as soon as you hear "land hoo", use the sleeping powder. Remember, it must be a dank place, so wait in the storage room. You also have to overhear the conversation of the mice about the treasure. The sea travel is a bit lengthy and you can miss important things just by bad luck. I had to wait for hours and repeat until it worked out for me (I played KQ3 from Sierra before, so I knew about the important bits)

Thanks, sthomannch, but that didn't quite work.

Spoiler

I'd heard "land ho!" (and "weigh the anchor", for that matter) and heard what the mice said about the treasure. I then used the sleeping powder and everyone went to sleep.

Using the stone just teleported me around the ship, even when I was on the stern. After a few teleports, the ship set sail again, even though everyone was supposed to be asleep! I thought the sleep was supposed to be eternal?

the sleep should be terminal. Only the pirate in the crows nest stays awake, but all other pirates should be asleep. I actually swam to the shore in the remake. Something seems to be really wrong there.

OK, I've got it.

Spoiler

You have to jump overboard from the top deck of the ship by going to where you see the hole in the deck and then jumping off the far edge of the ship. You can't jump off the stern.

I'm stuck on the wooden walkway now. I'm near the end of it (towards the top of the screen) but it looks like there might be a gap in it, which I keep falling down. Of course, it's too dark to see clearly. I can't teleport my way out either.

Hm, no, there was no gap after all, but where I am now I can't even see where I am walking (behind the blue stalagmites at the top left). I'm now saving after every successful step I take.

Is there an easier way to get to the end of the walkway?

I tried flying and I wasn't allowed to do that either.

Aha, I've found

somewhere else I can go before I go into the cave. Maybe I'll find a torch or something.

the cave behind the mountains, after you fell down the ledge? I can't remember that I used a torch, but I also saved a lot when searching for the way up. The old EGA game is more forgiving and allows to use the right key on the keyboard to safely walk up the stairs. For the remake: Good luck...

Spoiler

It's the wooden walkway inside the cave in the mountains. When get near the back, there is a section that goes behind some stalagmites so you can't see where you are walking.

But for now I'm
Spoiler

trying to get into the castle. I would have thought I could transform into a fly and get in that way, but that doesn't work. Teleporting doesn't either.

Phew, I made it through in the end.

Spoiler

Once you are behind the stalagmites at the top left, you need to move westwards pretty much, until you go off the end of the screen, where you will end up on a fairly straight section along the top of the screen. There are two more screens after that, but the first screen is the hardest.

Turning the brightness on my monitor up to maximum also helped a little ;)

Hurray! I've finished it. 188 out of 210 - not bad.

Two questions regarding the same topic- the fly spell.  I made it once successfully because I earned points and did not die, but I was unable to use it at the tavern. Why not?

Second- I am trying to make it again with the eagle feather but I keep dying because I don't have all the ingrediants (so it tells me.)  The saffron was deleted from my inventory automatically after making this spell the first time, and when I try to pick it up again, it says I already have some.  But I don't!

Spoiler

First question: I don't know. But you don't need it here.

Second question: Once you made the spell, you can use the eagle feather as well as the fly wings. You can't create this spell a second time.
