To get the pencil/pen you have to ask the highwoman to sign in. then you put it on the desk. You leave and wait untill sge discusses with the driver. When that happens, you take the pencil/pen and she will not notice it

Heavily disappointed!

The walkthrough said there's only one dead end, but there's another.

But the game lets me save only 1 game, so I can only restore the last save!
Now I have to replay the whole game (I won't), or to screw it.

1. Check the walkthrough to do the basic steps first.
2. Then You have to talk to several people (multiple times) about the races curse, a book and the sea monster.
3. Then you have to make all things ready for the diving machine.
4. Then dive.
5. Then you have to talk to some person again to find the monster again.
6. Then comes a hard part to go to the monster (see the walkthrough).

wow, thanks to this forum, I finally found out how to get the quill pen...

maybe it would be a good idea, to keep a more concrete note in the walkthrough, what to do with it when the highwaywoman gave it to you for another signature.

Could be, that I'm a little slow with things like this, but it drove me mad... :

and the few hints on the first 5 pages of this thread werent any help to me.

But thanks to you all anyway

The walking dead the walkthrough mentions was in an older version of the game. As for the wyrm:

It's not a walking dead, since attempting to open the valve will intiate a conversation with the wyrm, one you couldn't have by simply talking to him. It's through this conversation that you can convince him to give you the books back.

I knew it was no dead end, as you wrote it in your own forum. that's why it drove me mad, because i knew there had to be a way.
when i finally found out, i could have eaten my table, bite myself into the ass, as we would say in german....

and i can't even blame the foreign language for my own stupidity

by the way, how about a translation, like you did on the first part?

Sorry the game frustrated you. It's probably poor puzzle design on my part.

A German translation is a great idea. Unfortunately, Apprentice 2 has much more dialogue than the first one, and I'd feel pretty bad if someone had to translate it for free.

I'll look into it.
