The caged beast (and the Dervish' answers about it) are activated on day 12 and not sooner. Just like in the original game. (contrary to your claim) The reason for this is the fact that until day 12, there is no way you can solve the beast puzzle and you'd be forced to visit it each day afterwards in order to prevent it from dying while you wait for the missing item to become available.

As for the debug mode, you can only unlock it by completing the game with max points and a certain hidden item in your inventory.  Afterwards, you'll be able to cheat to your heart's content. BTW, for all the noise, the debug codes were taken out of QFG1 as well when that game was remade (naughty, naughty Sierra) and QFG3, QFG4 and QFG5 didn't have any debug modes at all. (bad, naughty, evil Sierra)

And yes, there IS another cheat mode referred to as "battle mode" that has some combat-specific features that cannot be used through the ordinary debug mode. Unfortunately, this one must be unlocked by finishing the game with perfect score and a certain secret item in your inventory as well. So no cheats for you during the first playthrough. Boy, does life suck or what?

Making the fans beat your game with a perfect score then allowing them the cheat code is dumb! Who is the idiot that thought up that one? You? The game cannot be beat with a perfect score! I myself played through and got 493 of the 500 points! I had to steal the bellows from the wrestler because my stats weren't high enough to get them anyother way. This is the worst game that AGD has come out with! Their King's Quest 1 and 2 were done wonderfully, but this game truly sucked! But then again, the entire Quest for Glory franchise of games was pretty stupid anyway! I think I will stick to the REAL Sierra quest games. King's Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest, and of course Leisure Suit Larry. Why do you guy do these dumb easter eggs and hidden things. No one can find them and all you are doing is wasting people's time!

I love AGS and you guys

Whoever wrote the above, misquoted me, and I could sue for that! DON'T EVER MISQUOTE ME AGAIN!

I HATE AGS AND THE IDIOTS THAT MADE THIS GAME!

If the idiots that made this game made is possible to cheat with a stupid perfect score and if that loser Erpy hadn't worked on it, then maybe I wouldn't get so mad! Sierra didn't make you beat their QFG2 with a perfect score before allowing the cheat code to work, why do you all think it is ok for your game to be like that?

And if you ever take something out that I wrote and then make up lies about what I said again, I will sue!

I HATE AGS, ERPY, AND THE IDIOTS THAT MADE THIS GAME! All you had to do was improve the graphics, keep the game the same as Sierra had it! But no, you all made it worse and added crap that no one can find! Then you all make it so that in order to use the cheat code, you have to have a perfect score! Thats really dumb, since there is no way to beat the game with a perfect score! If there is, then provide the save games for the perfect score and I will apologize. But until then, this game sucks and you all did a horrible job on it! The only thing I liked about it was the new graphics, everything else was dumb and sucked!

Now that's where you're wrong, it makes perfect sense. If a person has beaten the game many times before and has unlocked the debug mode, it makes sense that upon replaying some time later, he wants to play through the game a little faster and occasionally blue-frog his stats up in order to keep stat raising to the absolute minimum. There's nothing wrong with that. I do object to someone who plays through the game for the first time using debug features to rush past things. It took a lot of time to make the game. The respectful thing to do would be to invest a little bit of your own time in going through it.

And yes, the game can be beaten with perfect score. Many people have done it. There's even a guy on YouTube who recorded a fighter playthrough of the game and beating Issur at arm wrestling, even without using the hold back option. (so you can apologize now as I'd see that as obvious proof) As a fighter, you get 7 points for beating Issur at arm wrestling, which is why you didn't get 500 out of 500. Now, in the time you've been crying over this, you could have raised your strength up to 155 to 160 or so and beat the Issur yourself. Stats play a bigger role than anything else.

And yeah, people do find hidden things. Most of the hidden features have been found during the first month. Most people liked them too.

As for the rest of your tempter tantrum, it's obviously coming down to this: "I suck at something, but rather than admit this to myself and face the fact I'm not perfect, I'll go and throw abuse at the developers in order to preserve my oh-so-fragile ego." I only have one thing to say to that. Cry me a river and get over it.

Ok ok, look I'm sorry that daddy didn't buy you the new bike that you wanted for your birthday, but that's no reason to get mad at Erpy. When you've finished throwing things at the teacher and beating up your younger sister, maybe you'll have managed to release enough anger to be able to leave your house and face the outside world.

Anyway, you've left me with no option other than to ban you from posting here for a while. As you hate us all so much, I'm hoping that you won't mind this and that it won't wind up your blood pressure to the point where you have a heart attack.

Frodo

For what it's worth Erpy, most of us appreciate all the work you guys put into this game.   :)

Erpy

I know. I was just having a little go at him for being a crybaby.

mihalis

I am unable to cast spells or perform any actions other than with my sword during battle.  I have even tried resetting the associated keys to different ones (A,S,D,W, etc), but I am still having the same problem.  Any pointers?

Erpy

If you're a fighter, you must store your shield in the chest in your room, since you need one free hand to cast magic. Also, you can't use flame dart, force bolt and dagger throwing in melee range, you must back off first.

colonel97062

Ok. Now that I am able to write again on this forum, I have a question. Forst of all, I was able to beast the wrestler. I was also able to obtain the bellows from him without stealing it. So in order to get the blue frog, I am wondering on what days it is there with the dervish? I got the bellows on day 8. So what day after day 8 will the blue frog be at the dervish scene? It is a pain for me to go everysingle day after day 8, so if you just tell me the day I can get the blue frog, that would be great! I have also defeated the air elemental, that is in my opinion why I had to wait until day 8 to get the bellows. Right? Or as the fighter, could I have gotten the bellows sooner without stealing it?

Erpy

The blue frog appears randomly in the oasis screen. If it's not there, leave and come back. In order to actually catch it you must use the bellows on it before you capture the air elemental. (afterwards, it's no longer possible) So the ideal time would be to get it after getting the bellows but before going over to the palace plaze to take care of old blowhard. That's the only window of opportunity you have if you're not gonna steal it. You can beat Issur at wrestling before day 8, but he won't give you the bellows until you tell him about the air elemental.

colonel97062

Ok. Thanks. I actually solved my own question about all this that same day.

shameenkatta

okay so how do I kill the fire elemental? I'm having fun but keep dying!  :'(

Frodo

To beat the Fire Elemental, you need to:

Spoiler
Ask Aziza about FIRE ELEMENTAL, then COTNRARY ELEMENT.

Now go to Apothecary and ask about FIRE ELEMENTAL, then FLAME.  Get INCENSE from him, then leave.

Make sure you have LAMP from brass merchant (opposite Magic Shop).

Jump to gate plaza, where the Fire Elemental is, and click INCENSE on it, so it will follow you.  Now drop LAMP on the ground.  Use a waterskin on Fire Elemental, and it will jump into the lamp.

Voila!
[close]

Hope that helps.   :)

Betty

I'm enjoying this video  game.  My computer did something weird and I had kill the earth elemental twice.  Now I'm having trouble with the tree in the desert.  I get prompted for each step until I hug the tree and try to tell her name and there is no way to accomplish that.  There is no prompting dialogue or direction and no way to even bring it up.  Is it just my machine malfunction that is acting up or am I missing something?

Frodo

Betty, if you want to TELL something (rather than ASKING), just click Mouth Icon on yourself, and then type in 'Julaner'   ;)

Problem with FIGHTING:

I'm playing the Quest for Glory II remake on a laptop, Dell Inspiron with Windows XP

Everything works fine except for a big problem, I can't get the hero to fight or to dodge.  the only thing he can do is move forward or backwards by pressing the up or down arrows.  the left and right arrows have no effect, and I don't have a button that makes him attack (so he just stands there taking damage, not dodging,  until I finally run away)

It's very frustrating as I played this back in the 90's and never had a problem like this

I've tried playing with Numlock on/off
Any suggestions?
As you realize I can't get far without being able to fight, can't go out into the desert or anything

thanks
L

Frodo

Hey LM   :)

Have you done the tutorial with Uhura?  She teaches you how to fight.

You have to use the number pad.  If I remember correctly, 7 & 9 are Attack buttons.   ;)
