a piece of paper with a code on that I showed to Eve and Nick and used on the device on the wall
a dictaphone machine that I showed to Eve and it set off the device on the wall
and I have some kind of a book

I have talked to everybody over and over again and used "M" on the steward for two memories.

Providing you have activated the Dictaphone it should be used with the device. Then talk to nick once. Then show him the paper.

but when I use it with the wall device I just get "Why would I do that? or some other stupid message.

I did and Nick says, We must be able to use what you found in the drawer.  So I showed him the code and he says to show it to Eve and then I used it on the device and got a response from the Steward.

Nick can imitate the captain's voice. You have the combination. The combination has to be read out in the captain's voice. Nick would be able to do this, and so all you have to do is to (see answer below if you still can't work it out)...

Okay.  I haven't been using the "M" to its full potential. I just realized that through those last tips so now I just need to figure out how I should be using it and then I should be okay.

Well, once I figured out how to use the "M" properly I was okay.  I finished the game and really enjoyed it.  Now I'm sorry it wasn't longer.  Great job and thanks to everybody for their help.
