enter the chapel first, you can do more things later on. You cannot take the rose as long as the gardener is around, so try to solve other puzzles instead.

About the broken stairway

use the magnifying glass on the structure right and a little above to find a "handhold". Reach for it, it is too high. So you need a grappling hook. Take the two tips of the lances ("lances point"), combine them in your inventory and go to Virginias bathroom and take the rope. Combine it with the Y shaped tips. Another obstacle is the bat, perhaps you find out how to get rid of it, if not

Bas relief

Look at the emblem that you found when digging in the ground close to the shadow. You have to switch the buttons on the bas relief so that it closely resembles the red outline, then use the emblem on the bas relief. The picture is symmetric, so if you activate one claw, then activate also the other two.

Assuming you've dug up the red symbol? If you did, the relief is solved as follows:
The relief needs to get a similar shape as the symbol.

Make sure everything is depressed. Then from each dog push the back (body), the front leg and the back leg. That makes 9 buttons pressed. Then place the red symbol in the middle of the relief.
