As you can see, I've finally moved my lazy ass and started working on a game. This is supposed to be the first game in a looooooong (yeah, right) franchise featuring an old Scotland Yard inspector solving various weird cases including vampires, werewolves, murderistic shaving foams and similar stuff. This first game (it's titled "Kill!", I'm thinking about changing the name because it completely sucks) is of introductory character (kinda like Rob Blanc 1), it will be pretty short and help to introduce the main character and the type of puzzles and humor I'm going to use in these games. Yeah, this all sounds great on paper, we'll see how much of this I'm actually going to do.

Anyway, what I have done so far is not much - a few backgrounds (will post some of them later, but they're nothing special, I don't consider graphics a very important part of the game), almost all characters and some objects.

Right now, you can check this small non-playable demo. It contains the intro to the game (which is actually just a looooong dialogue). It's not much, but it will give you an idea what the game will look like. I will occasionally post screenshots and other promotional stuff here.

Just a small progress update (yes, I am actually working on this game): I've drawn most of the backgrounds and objects. I need to work on one more character and improve the looks on some backgrounds. Also, all important puzzles are designed, I'll make a few more just for fun. So, basically, I need to make a few drawings more and then I can get to the fun part - coding. I won't post screenshots here after all, because my backgrounds are lame and they might put you off, but soon I'll be able to present a short playable demo, before the final release. I think the game's length will be aproximately like the first Robert Redford.

OK, I have drawn all backgrounds and animations and today I started with the fun part. Music is going to be a small problem. Someone please recommend me a good FREE program for making midi music.
I also need someone with Cakewalk. I have a short theme saved on my HD in Cakewalk's .wrk format, but I don't have Cakewalk anymore. So if anyone has that damn program I'd appreciate them to convert my file to .mid so I can work with it. Thanks.

P.S. Some screenshots coming soon!

The dialog was indeed highly amusing, but it lacked references to Illuminati.
Also, I have Cakewalk and may help you in this testing times. Send me the wrk by email (blazed@o2.pl)

Harvester

Hey Goldie, I just sent you the files. Be gentle :-)
I'll post some screenshots tomorrow, I promise. But beware - I make the game from the end, so the screenshots might contain spoilers, hehehe.

Here they are, first two screen shots!

Here's our hero in the last room. Notice the half of a table to the left...

And here he is in the front of the house.

If you decide not to play a game just because my art skills are non-existent, well... your loss.

Hey, I probably couldn't do much better...  :-\

But seriously, one thing you might want to fix is how the fish tank sort of hangs off its table. Looks a little strange and makes the perspective strange as well.

It's yer owld pal Dinghy Dog!!

Harvester

Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out.

Also, I ran into a small scripting problem, if it turns out to be a BIG problem I'll have to ask for help on the forums, damn.

Just checked out the demo (finally).  Good stuff.  "It will be a long and perilous journey!"  "...that's it?"  hahaha

Good luck with your game; I'll be looking forward to it.

Thanks!

Btw, here's the link to my "big" scripting problem:

Also, I am proud to announce that the game will definitely be much weirder than the intro suggests.
Release date: Less than two weeks (unless I have more stupid scripting problems)

Yippe! It's almost here! I have finished (almost) all the scripting and animating and similar crap. The only thing left to do is some polishing (dialogue, look messages, etc, walk-to points), so I expect it to be ready for beta testing in two or three days.

I have to push the deadline for another two days :-) I had a scripting problem, AGS ate my functions (I had a room with many doors and when I tried to edit some previously written interactions for them, I got the message "Attempt to edit a nonexisting function" :-)) So I had to do it all over again. Another "small" problem was my lack of attention, which led to stupidities like "to open a door you have to get an object that's behind that very door". However, I've managed to fix most of these problems, but I still have to polish some bugs and add music before the beta testing phase.
Btw, thanks for the support :)

Hi Harvester,

Your game seems promising. I look forward to the finished product.

Harvester

Well, it's finished (hopefully). Now I need someone to beta test it. The game is very short (less than half an hour of gameplay), so it won't take much of your time. I need only two or three beta testers. If you're interested, send me your full name and e-mail address (for crediting and sending you download link, respectively), either here on on private message or whatever.
