excellent - are you aware of your choices in resolution?

not too keen on the door in the foreground however

Pau

Thank you for your comment. It's very encoraging because drawing is not my speciallity and It's a great effort for me.

I don't exactly understand (I'm not english speaker and babylon.com dindn't help me to understand what do yuo mean by 'keen') what's the problem with the door: shading? few details? isn't the position clear?

thanks

Hey Pau.  Keen means, that he likes it.  When he says he's not keen with the door, it means that there's something about it that he doesn't like.   As for what that is, he has to elaborate more for you to understand(or for me too).  So I hope that helps.

I really like your background too.  What I think is strange, is how perfect the beds look.  To me, they're just too perfectly made.  Maybe you have a very expensive housekeeper? :)

On the door closest to the viewer, doesn't the door latch seem too high up? Maybe it's not, I'm just not sure.  Everything else looks great to me! If I were an adventure, I'd really enjoy being in your background.

the door latch is too far up and a couple of other things a re wrong too.  compare the size of the beds to the size of the door next to them.   either its a foot too high or the beds are a foot too short.  also the shadow you have over one of the beds i quite dramatic, i'm guessing the light soruce comes from the window, maybe make it brighter?  add a couple of reflections?

good work i like the background.  has a very polished feel to it.
I like having low self-esteem.  It makes me feel special.

I really like the background. Is it curious because your style really reminds me to Proskrito, another Spanish member of the community.

I think it has lack of deails, for example, the "rodapié" (Skirting-boards, in English) need shaping for pretending an 3-d effects, the beds are too squared, and I should add a sight to the window (I always use the windows for adding details) :).

But that background is very close IMO to a totally perfect, workable room.

Keep in the good work! :)
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Very nice technique...I think you could crop the image so that the door - and the little part of the wall - to the right disappears.
The beds are excellent...really nice

Privateer Puddin'

sorry for not explaining in my previous post, i dont know why, but there is something about the door that annoys me. maybe because it looks like its got some kinda pattern on it yet the other door doesn't?

DodgeR

nice use of perspective i can see some technique behind the scenes of this pic!

ravenfusion

I like the style, but shouldn't the picture above the beds be darker too?

It´s a bg really pretty! I like it very much. The walls, the shade and the picture (it´s rare), but I think that you can improve the beds, are very square. You can put a lamp to fill some gap.

And now in spanish:
(Perdona mi inglés, llevo un año sin dar esa asignatura y casi he olvidado toda la gramática. Me gusta mucho tu fondo pero yo intentaría mejorar los bordes de las camas (los colchones) e intentar redondearlas un poco. Espero que hayas entendido lo que he querido decirte.   :D)

Cool like the painting on the wall. Very funky simple but i think also dietailed im confused? But thats brill and a first great!

Pau

Thank you very much for all your comments. I've tried to improve the backgroud but certain aspects like the "bed perfection problem" is not definitive solved (it needs a posproduction extra work with a non-vectorial drawing tool like Photoshop).

So here is the second version of the backgroud:

And one more thing, I don't know if my character drawing style will fit with the backgroud one, so there's a character sketch, it has no shading and the legs are ugly. Do you think it will be well integrated? (Of course the coocker will be in a kitchen bacgroud :P)

Wow pau ;)

The updated room is 10 times nicer and the addition of the plant and the glass add a lot  more life and character to the scene, not to mention how nice they look. It would be nice if there was something outside of the window, but I guess it's not too necessary if this room is pretty high up.

I think that your characters will go excellently with that background style!

Good luck and hope to see some more soon.

Moresco

Well it's hard to say because I can't seem to visualize having the character ontop of the background without actually seeing it.  Make a screenshot of it during gameplay and we'll see how it looks.  I really like what you've done with the beds by the way! :) That's excellent and the little glass on the table is also good.

Now that the door on the right is gone, it seems difficult to determine that there's a door there at all.  I'm not really sure if it's a big deal or not, just making the observation.

The idea of an external sight through the window was also commented by Farlander and I think I'll do, but first I prefer to draw the external part of the house and the sorrounding area in order to use a portion of it and paste it behind te window.

The "right door problem" confuses me too, becouse this door is the room exit (and also the entrance) so I don't know if it will be clear if it's not visible. The part of the open door of my first version was a hint to indicate the exit but when you see the main character entering from a point of the screen you gess there is the exit. The interface will also help: an arrow indicating there is an exit (like CMI or BASS). But I don't know if this is enough, maybe I'll try to draw the door again in a different way.

That's a good idea to use an arrow as an indication for the door.  Although seemingly unrelated, there is a game called Icewind Dale 2 where you may hit the Alt key to illuminate all doors etc.   This could very well be an acceptable function in a game, though it shouldn't illuminate 'secret' doors.  Just a suggestion. :)
