5 days - can anyone else help me?

i am stuck on day 2. i have got the metal detector and it led me to one of the holes in the lawn, but do i have to dig? as i have nothing to dig with??

Who said you have to get something in order to dig? Let me clue you: If I were you I would try to use my own hands to solve this puzzle. Get it?

Thanks. i have done that, and now on day 3. Currently i am in the basement and the salt/teddy/stick thing keeps pointing down. What do i have to do?

You have a map of the house, does it show anyhting... unusual?

First thing: Check if you held it above the bed!

Second: If so, then exactly stand above the place where its pointing down asnd there will be a new hotspot nemad "Are" avialable" which you can use.

i am below the kitchen there is no bed. Just some chains!!!

If you're already below the kitchen, use it (salty teddy with stick) again, it should point north/east/south/west. Walk a bit in that direction. Use it again. Repeat until it's point straight down. Then there should be a new hotspot where you are standing (just like mamarulez said). Use it!

i had a similar problem and had to keep moving a little then using detector on floor - and interacting with it - keep trying and I sure it will work.

Just to make sure... Has it pointed somewhere else already? Or does he say that "it's either pointing down or not working properly". Re-read the instructions in the magic book! Combine Stick with String and Personal Item. Dip in Salt. WAVE OVER THE PLACE THE PERSON YOU'RE LOOKING FOR SLEPT. Have you done all that?

You'll know you're in the right spot when you put the hand curser over it and it says "area"
then just click on it.  You don't have to use anything in inventory.

Corresponding to the hints I have read the newspaper, the book on the DeFoe family, Sir Roderick's diary and Mattew's diary as well.
But I stil can't get a book on white magic in the library with the instructions how to make a detector...
Tribly seems to be interested in blackcolour books... but as I want to take one of them he says "I can't think of a use for any of these books at the moment"...
Where have a done wrong???
