After seeing the two verisons I must point out that the first one shows a happy school (the pavement looks like a smiley) while the second gives off an unhappy environment (again notice the pavement curve).

I know that it might be pointless to point this to you, but imo something like that can easily change the mood of the picture (in case you have a before and after version)..

Nice work btw.

TAKE a LOOK toyour SOURCES before trying to copy an style!

The question I'm asking myself is: "Why would you want to copy somebody else's style?"

I suppose if you don't initially have a style of your own you might try to reproduce an existing style in which case I believe its best to not have the source style in front of you at all times but just work from your memory of the source.  That way you'll reproduce what sticks out in your mind about the source and invent the rest and in doing so discover your own style.  Does that make any sense?  But if it really needs to mesh with the other style than yeah I guess its best to have the source on hand.

For the record I liked your original version much better than your latest one.

I'm loving your art Farlander. I like the seconf picture better, except the pavement texture. Somethings up with the sky on the top right too. Like you need to move the darker shade closer to the sun, similar to the first pic.

I think the first picture was a bit plain, while the new one fills the area better... well thats my opinion.

I like the first one better. this style looks cooler in the simple way, i belive

Quintaros: I was not looking to copy the style for any special reason, just because I really liked the "goofy" style as soon as I first saw it, I suppose with Hannah-Barbera cartoons or something. I feel very comfortable with it, that´s why I took a look to the source. I´m happy with the result.  :)

Pure ghost: Trying to fix that.  :-X

Fizz: I prefer the second, and please, allow me to choose my own opinion in case of doubt  ;).
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Definately prefer the second one. Reasons I come to think of:

(i) stronger contrasts which make it less flat and generally improve the looks.
(ii) less saturated colors which makes it less childdrawinglike
(iii) blockier objects which gives it depth.

I really like the new style, hope you ll stick with it.
Looking for a writer

Hey, the second one looks great!
Just a suggestion: if anything, i'd change the tree. Not that it doesn't look good, but it's such a huge DOTT "trademark", that it makes the image look like its copy (even though the rest of the image is completely original). I think it would be better if you'd add a personal touch here.

It's the same, as if you'd copy clouds from CMI- it's just a "don't" thing :)
