Character drawing laziness.. bad?

I've always wanted to make an adventure game because I grew up on them, but I'm lazy.

Would it be a rip-off to make southpark styled characters so that a lot of characters could be created easily and quickly, or would it be better to focus on quality? Maybe better to just create a new type of simply drawn character?

I got the idea in my head that it might be fun to make a world in 3d with really simple graphics pasted on the objects.. like the intro to Crank Yankers on Comedy Central, if anyone has seen it. South Park characters would fit well into a world like that, but I don't want to make a game that seems like an annoying ripoff graphically.
Once I killed a man. His name was Mario, I think. His brother Luigi was upset at first, but adamant to continue on the adventure that they started together.

Try to focus on the game you "really" want to make. There must be something specific. Don't settle for the substitute, if you want southpark style, do it. If something else, do that.

I understand what you are saying about lazyness (as I am sure alot of the people who read this ;) ), and the best way to fight it, is by working on your own personal 'dream' game.

A completed game with bad simple graphics is definitely preferable to a gorgeous one that will never see the light of day.

I think creative simplicity is better than South-Park-inspired simplicity. :)
I look just like Bobbin Threadbare.

You might be interested making a game set in the Reality On The Norm universe.  It's a series of AGS games where all the resources are shared.  There are about 60 or so games out so far.

LOL mOds, it really has been a while.. But I was here when you were a noob so there!  ;D Considering I never made a single game the only real reason I was here was to waste time and play other people's adventure games though. What happened to the one you were going to make with the dozens of pretty girls and the single guy on the island with them anyway?  ;)

Since one person agrees with me that doing the southpark thing would be ripping off.. I sorta was having second thoughts with that beforehand or I wouldn't have posted it.. I'm gonna try to take an approach that's a play on anime in 3d and see how that works out. Gotta fire up blender and I'll let you know how it works out.

Heh, I'm lazy when it comes to art. That's why everything is in 3D. Easier to work with, to be honest.

if you are too lazy just draw simple stuff first then programme it all them replace it with better stuff, then you don't have to wait untill you finish a background pixel perfect before you carry on.

either that or take photos! would be quick, then draw over them perhaps?

I've actually got a couple of 3d models done now, I'm working on texturing them properly.  Kind of mixes SouthPark with Anime.. hard to describe.  I guess it's similar to the common cartoon-like character you see in most AGS games really, only in 3d.  I'm doing it this way because I can do all of the work designing the look, and then I just do some simple moving and take pictures afterword rather than having to bother with re-drawing everything over and over. Hopefully will give quality without tedium.

I'm going after characters before backgrounds and plot, because backgrounds are the next hardest thing and plot is cake for me.  I have quite an imagination.  I think I'm going to base this adventure at my college, that way I don't have to go through creating an entire world in my head.  My other idea was to base an entire adventure game in a nursing home of the future.. the reason? Character animations would be freakin easy, just put everyone in hovering "wheelchairs!"  No more of that pesky animating legs, you just draw 8 images and make them move up and down a bit.

Getting the hardest things out of the way first is my personal way to assure myself the game will get done, because if you save hard things for last, it's likely you'll slack off or give up entirely. Or rather, it's likely I will.
