Hi guys!

I'm working on a game which features a knight tournament.
I want to make it absolutely clear, that the player character is the noble, modest good guy, and his adversary is a vain, arrogant sucker (but not evil, mind you).
Now, my question is, how to make him look real real vain?
He already has golden armor inlaid with silver and on his shield he bears a silver unicorn.

Oh, heck, I'll just post a pic for you.

For those not yet familiar with my characters: That's a Knubbel. Cute little green guy, shaped like a fat aeroplane with eyes and feet (here he uses his propellers to hold the sword).

EDIT: Yeah, that Unicorn (Knubblicorn) DOES have six feet... Dunno why... Thought it funny, maybe

Adding eyebrows (floating ones I presume) would be an easy way to show expressions (and vain)..

alternatively you could make the eyes inside seem half-closed. (you know, the arrogant half closed look).

your character looks original. I don't think I have seen anything like it before.

Hope it helped.

Knubblicorn... tee hee!

I'm sorry but this is just too cute!

Now, to buisiness!
-Cape
-Long hair peeking out the back of his helmet.
-Maybe tilt the head (what am I saying? It's all head!) back a bit, so he'd be looking down his nose.
-Definitly needs eyelids.  Right now he looks wide eyed and innocent.

(knubblicorn- hee hee!)

I like it!

The only complain critic I have is that, dressed armoured like that, his views seemed to be severely blocked, what I mean is that there didn't seem to be enough openings for the eyes to see through, I suggest you may shrinken the eyes a bit (but may reduce the comical feeling) or make some more openings in the "aeroplane head" or lower the "aeroplane head"/raise the eyeballs for him to see through.

Man, no offense... but that is freaking me out a bit. Cutesy characters that I'm not used to always have that effect. :-\

Nothing says "arrogant" like a pencil-thin moustache, in my opinion. :)

That's very cool that you took the time to make up your own kind of character. I do 3d stuff myself so I think it's interesting you're doing this. What program do you use?

You should put some filler around the eyes, just sticking up like that looks cutesy and you can't add eyebrows or a wicked looking nose.. really the armor hides everything you could change to make him look vain. Right now he looks very rich, and likely to die in a joust. (gold is very soft)

Why are the eyes transparent, btw?
Once I killed a man. His name was Mario, I think. His brother Luigi was upset at first, but adamant to continue on the adventure that they started together.

Thanks to everyone!

Ok, now for some replies:
-GhostGr: I agree on the eyebrows, but fear that half-closed eyes are a bit difficult.

-lazy dragonrose: I agree on the first two points, but the latter ones... I'm not sure about those, I guess, I'll just try

-Gilbot: If you look closely, you see that his nose armor leave out the upper side of the nose (where the bars are bent over). This is exactly large enough for the eyes to see through (actually, I took great care and thought a lot about that!)

-YOke: I'll sure try that!

-shbazjinkens: I do my 3D stuff in Cinema4D.
About your suggestions: Despite being rendered in rather high detail, this is still a cartoonish character. Eyebrows will just float above the eyes. I used to try a few things about making Knubbels appear more animal-like, but either I change the appearance thoroughly(which I don't want) or make it look totally stupid (which I don't want either).
And, well, let's say the armor is gilded steel, ok? (Besides being soft, gold would be f***ing heavy, too...)
The Eyes are not transparent but reflective (but, I guess, I'll change that)

Well, next week I'll post an improved version!
