AGS! I know nothing about SCI studio... but I've heard it keeps crashing. AGS does not crash, unless you find a but or do something really stupid... AGS is great. USE IT! Oh... and vote for my games in the AGS Awards! sorry.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

AGS, because

*It has a great community
*It is easy, and more importantly, FUN to use
*It does everything you could possibly want to do in a 2D adventuregame
*CJ is a god, releasing updates generally every month or two
*Because I say so. DON'T MESS WITH TEH SOUPDRAGON!!!1!

You're not going to get many answers suggesting SCI studio in an AGS forum :)

SCI studio makes authentic Sierra old style games, which may or may not be what you want to make.  AGS has many more options open to you and is certanly capable of doing anything you can do in SCI.  So I'd go for AGS, it seems easier to use anyway.  I haven't actually used SCI studio though, it may be that it has some features I don't know about.

I used sci studio for a while (until i discovered ags!) and you. re mainly just scripting, and like the guys here said: ags is MUCH easier to use and has more features.

SCI studio, because this is an AGS beginner's technical forum, which is not for this kind of questions.
