I envy all y'all. I'm on a 31.2k connection. I'm lucky if I get 4kb a second. But I'll be off to college next year, and with college comes that super high-tech broadband all you city slickers keep talking about.

Actually, I thought I was on a 1 mbps connection but I went into my network places and opened the connection dialog and it says I'm connected at 10.0 mbps. Hmm.

I'll hazard a guess that that's your LAN connection.

Yes. That's the speed of your NIC (network interface card). My cable connection, for instance, says 100Mbps, but my actual internet connection speed is 1Mbps.
