How do you get the closet open in the morgue?

Exactly what to do:

Go to Lucas's house, go inside, look at grenades, open window, go outside, go to the back of the house, get the red (or was it the purple?)  grenade, go back to the morgue, use grenade with closet door, interact with closet door

I'm in the forest.  I came across the rock (I think) but nothing is happening when I touch it.  There is a hole in it but nothing happens when I put all of inventory in the hole either.

The walkthrough says to just interact with the rock and it will reveal a path to the house but not so in my case.
