Download the installer version then:
http://www2.arnes.si/~sopjsimo/gimp/stable.html

Download the first 2 files there (and the LZW one if you want to save compressed GIF and don't care about patent issues).
First install the GTK+, then GIMP, optionally the LZW one finally.

I hope you were just joking , but if not :

Yes , some sort of website ( doesn't have to be your own or whatever...just some page or site online that you upload pics too ) is a must. It would mean more work for you and it'd be more time consuming if you wanted to show off work via attachments by email or some such thing instead of just posting them somewhere and linking to the site. Plus , I think not many people would be interested if you wanted to do it that way.
And it's not like it's hard to find a good free site for pics or anything. *cough100megsfreecough*

I think http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/upload/upload.html can be used for smallish files.

Geocities, if you get an account there, does not allow hotlinking, btw. so you'll need to use anynymizer...

Directly from the manual:

So probably no, I don't know what would happen if it's ended with something else though.

You can however, always save it as BMP or PCX and convert it to the desired format with all these free and small programmes out there (eg. Irfan View).

* Gilbot V7000a finds many people are even too lazy to do some small conversion job themselves.

if you do change the filename to .png or something then the editor will simply add a .bmp on the end of it.
So you'll end up with ("scrnshot.png.bmp") when you take the screenshot.
However you can change the 'scrnshot' part to whatever you want.

cause i have seen how post their screenshot at normal, then 2x size but how do i do that?

if you wanted to make a 320 x 200 image twice the size, you would type this:

 [img width=640 height=400]www.yourpichere.gif[/img]

you have to decide the width & height of the image yourself (in pixels), so just double the dimensions you already have.

blackman, just becuase it works for you doens't mean it would work for anyone else, as you would have a geocities cookie in your browser that would enable them for your oiwn pictures.

However, I can see the pic you just posted, so maybe geocities have changed their policy!

Sorry, but, because i've got the pics on my pc, and i don't have a site, is it possible to upload images directly from my hard disk?

In the instructions of the BBCode, it says you can browse a picture just specifying the drive where it is. But where is the "browse" button?
