Hi everybody,

I'm looking for a short story you might have written for an approx. 2-4 room adventure game, that you had rejected for some reason. I'd like to make a short game, but I'm really not feeling like thinking up an original concept/storyline. I'm lazy when it comes to storywriting, so sue me....

If you still believe your dust-collecting story has potential but have no intention of making a game with it, post them here, or rather send them to rejectstories@hotmail.com.

Ofcourse you'll receive credit for writing.

Wow, you made a special hotmail adress for this.

Sadly my rejected stories are all in my head. And they are to long, have no gameplay or have no endings.

I f you want to make a short game, you should use the old "I'm stuck in a room" story.

Well, I don't have any rejected stories, because all the stories I think of I will want to make sometime, and I generally put off most of them because they are very long. However, I am very lazy, and still don't find the storywriting stage very demanding of hard work. So, I'll be glad to try and write something for you, if inspiration comes.
Will any story do? Do you have any requirements for theme, style, setting, art(things you find easier or harder to draw)?
I tend to imagine stories very cinematically, and often I put off my stories simply cause I've imagined something that I can't draw or animate. :P
Also, about length: more specification? A lot can happen in 2-4 rooms. How many characters, animations, puzzles, twists, depth of the story?

Good luck!

edit: Well, I sent you a story by PM :).

Well, I'm just looking for a short game, something I can actually finish. It shouldn't be too elaborate. Also, my forte is backgrounds, so a lot of characters would slow progress down more than a slightly larger number of rooms. But I really don't want to rule anything out, I'd be glad with anything. Puzzles are ofcourse essential, so no restrictions there. I'm no coding genious, so complicated timed puzzles and such might take me more time, but hey, I need to learn stuff like that.

The setting too can be anything. I'd prefer something contemporary over sci-fi, fantasy, historic, etc. but again, I'm not ruling anything out.

As for my art: I made these once, and they pretty much sum up what I like to make best: http://karolina.ricardis.tudelft.nl/~dizkoplaja/Louvre.jpg and http://karolina.ricardis.tudelft.nl/~dizkoplaja/Oele_voor.jpg.

As for the "I'm stuck in a room" story as you call it, Malcolm. That's just fine, except I can't possibly come up with a brilliant backstory like "6 day assassin" or character like "Little Johnny Evil" which both give that concept a great twist. And that's exactly what I was looking for.
Since I'm asking for rejected short concepts, I hope I don't end up with 'scripts' for Snail Quest IV through MDXVII.

Yeah, MAGS is good for inspiring ideas.
It seems like the story I sent isn't quite compatible with your art style, as it is mostly outdoors, and there are quite a few characters. However, if the number of rooms can be stretched, a few adjustments can be made to decrease the number of characters.
And I wouldn't mind working at it some more, adding more detail to the puzzles, it's a bit vague right now. :)

It seems that plenty of people have abandonded projects halfway through. I wonder if there should be a repository for the work they had done so far on them, as maybe someone else can pick up and run with them. If not the whole gamne then maybe a character, backgroudn, animation etc,

The easiest way to do this would be to save a game template (.AGT)... and post it here!

how about this, you are the president. You're stuck in your presidental suite because a group of terriorists have invaded the white house. You have to get a message out to the pentagon, so they can come and rescue you!
