well, I would yell at you for not reading the ags beginners faq, but it seems to be down.  ;D

so... .cha files are files only made with ags.  used for when you import or export characters.

you can, however, import each frame of the character into the sprite manager, and then go to the view manager, and assign the sprites to walking frames for upward, downward, left and right movements, and even talking animations.  you need at least 4, i believe for each movement/direction. then go to the characters manager, and create a new character, and assign him the view you just made.
its very simple, but if you have any problems, just reply. we'll sort this out.

- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

AGS Beginners' FAQ is back up, and for good, so everybody take note. :)
