So if I were to want some help on a game what forum would be best to do this?? I wouldnt wanna post on the wrong one and cause a AGS uproar  ;D ;D :o But I guess thats why they make moderators!!!!! ???

Euhm... I don't really understand you. Why are you posting this background, without doing some work on it? You should post in Critics Lounge, if you really made some effort. But in this background, you drawed some lines(that aren't straight), and without roof... only white... and a premade brush... for the grass.... cmon... please don't spoil the forum with that.

I'm not saying it's bad or anything... it's just that, you should learn to take some more effort into the drawing and the post. I had to learn that too.... when I came here, I posted alot of screenies... wich I done in less than an hour. Though now I learned, that I need to take much longer on backgrounds/sprites... before posting. Only post if you really need help!

Bytheway, if you don't have PS legally, why not use TheGimp? And about your question... use a hard brush, to draw strokes of 10% opacity, to make colour differences. That gives more detail. Make the grass yourself, and not with a premade brush. Redo the outlines of the house and door. Add details, like windows, maybe stonewall... bushes, a tree? Sunshine, shadows...

Ok first off I don't think you understood.... Either

For one This is the Critics Lounge U said it wasnt?
For Second I've posted tons before on the old forum and the new one is a lot different, so I'm not new or red, I've used AGS since it was born....
And third I knew the bg wasnt finished, It was so people could posibly show how they might texture it And give some insight on it all, to make mine and maybe others drawing more enjoyable. And as far as adding bushes and all that shit I know that part I just wanna know more about textureing and drawing as I was never that good at it....

What are you like 16???? miniteen lol

You must make a choice: 3D-esque OR cartoony. To try them both in one style will lead to headaches and woes as it is very difficult to do well, if not impossible.

Also, the problem with Photoshop "texturing" is that it looks like Photoshop "texturing". My personal opinion: stay away from anything which smacks of cheap Photoshop tricks.

Ok, I had no intension at all to flame you, but I don't think your age, says anything about being an adult or not. I am 17, but I don't like you to judge me on that, and just by an arguement of being here along time, doesn't make you any better than others.
Furthermore, I'm sorry if I offended you, but do know that this is CRITICS lounge, so I have the right to say my opinion. It's just to you, to take it personal/global/positive/negative, or negate it.

OK... so I will soon do an edit on your picture, to show what I mean ;)

Best greetz,

Here are some helpful tips not in the tutorial:

First, for the grass and leaves you've been using, set your background color to pure black. It makes things much more realistic.

Second, you can create your own brushes for making foliage.
First download this psd file:
http://igloo.zapto.org/~corby/stock/leaf.psd
Here's what it is:

-Basically what I did was opened a new 32x32 pixel canvas, and used the pencil tool to draw a leaf shape with a transparent background.

-Next, go to Edit - "Define Brush", and pick a name for your brush.
-Now Select your new brush, and under "Windows", select "brushes"
-Now just change the settings to these:
Under Shape Dynamics:
   Jitter - 100
   Minimum Diameter - 1
   Angle Jitter - 100
   Roundness Jitter - 56
   Minimum Roundness - 25

Under Color Dyanimic:
   Hue Jitter - 13
All others should be at zero

Under Scattering:
    Scatter - 449
    Count - 2
    Count Jitter - 98

-Now go to the indicated arrow as seen here:

-In the drop down menu, select "New Brush" and give it a name.

You now have a brand new scattering brush that should work nicely for foliage! Turning down the size of this new brush to about 6 or 7 makes for a good random leaf pattern. Play around with your own shapes and fiddle with the brush settings.

As for grass... here's a nice example: http://www.nancycarterdesign.com/bryce/tutorial/

Hmmm maybe I should add this to the tutorial...
Hope this helps!  8)
