Problem with Fatman - in the punk club

I have really enjoyed playing Fatman, but for some reason whenever I enter the punk club (dressed in different outfit), the dialogue from the band keeps playing over+over in a loop.

I'm unable to do anything or progress the game!

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I also am having this problem, and no one seems to want to respond to my post. Did you ever figure out how to get past this?

When you say you're unable to do anything, do you just mean with the band? Or with anything?

Afaik, the band is supposed to announce song changes, then play the music. Then there should be a gap, though I think you should be able to do things when the band is talking - I'll do a quick replay to see.

For me, it just keeps looping the same dialogue over and over, with the hourglass for my cursor, and I am unable to do anything at all.

So they just announce one song after another?

There should be a long gap between each...
Either this is a bug, or the game is running stupidly fast for some odd reason. I don't see why it should be though - it's running fine for me (winxp).
I've stuck my save files (there appear to be two for one saved game) in a zip file and uploaded them to my geocities account, so you can check if it's a bug triggered by the sequence you did things in. $:-\$

Other than that, I'd try reinstalling the game, or finding a utility to slow down your cpu speed (although, as I said, it seems to run fine on my P4).

If none of that works, try mailing the people at Socko!Entertainment - they might be able to help.

Thanks for trying, but that didn't work either. The darn thing just keeps repeating the same three songs over and over.

You should be able to keep moving while the band plays. That could be a bug, or you may try disabling the music in setup.

Replaying, I realised you could also try reducing the game speed - my fatman walks at about 2 steps per second at default settings.
I doubt it 'll help though! :p

Has anyone else heard of this bug? Just wondering how common it is, since it's been out for quite a while and there don't seem to be any other threads on it...

Thank goodness someone responded to this post, as I thought no-one ever would :'(

I am getting the song annoucements over and over and it prevents me selecting an action (like talk, walk) or selecting an inventory item.

I've tried to click on an action button really quickly (as in inbetween songs annoucements), but it doesn't work!

I tried putting the game speed and walk speed at the slowest possible setting, and it still didn't work.

Have you tried posting in one of the technical forums? The people who post there are more likely to be able to figure stuff like this out, since they'll know the intricacies of AGS... $:-\$

I am experiencing the problem with the punk club as well. Is there somewhere that I can download a save game that is past that point?

I tried the playing the game on my PC in work, which is a much faster PC. The scene in the punk club now works fine. I can do stuff inbetween song annoucements.

So the CPU speed must have been the issue in my case.

Hmmm.... worked fine for me, and i belive you can do stuff while they are talking, but i am not sure. Maybe you disabled the music from the setup?

AHA.... figured it out after all this time. It did have to do with music setup. I played this game at my old job. I would disable the music, so as to not get caught.

Anyway, I recently started a new job and thought that I would try again on a different CPU... again disabled the music... and AGAIN got the bug. well, I went back, enabled the music, and now it works fine!

Yay!
