While we're on the topic of suggestions ;D
I would like to see the ability to import an alpha channel map for an object to make selected pixels have varying levels of transparency.
Also, I would like to be able to create games up to 1200x1600 resolution.
Heck, while i'm at it, i'd like to be able to mix sounds in stereo, like when you have a sounbd play, tell it which side to play from, like what percentage of full volume on each speaker, but maybe that's just me.

Didn't setting your game to 32bit colour and importing a PNG file with alpha channel work?

Show me a background that looks noticably better at 1600x1200 than 800x600 on a standard 17" monitor.  :P Besides which, the file size of your game would be massive.

Right, a resolution that size is just enormous. And I thought 960xwhatever was a lot!

I can get that walkbehind issue working by manipulating the character and walkbehind baselines just right. Thank you so much for your help!

Joelman

well as far as the current state of the industry, 800x600 is far too low a resolution for most people, at most of the lans I go to, I'm the only guy using under 1600x1200, and thats because my comp sucks, lol. I was just thinking in terms of being able to create a game to sell on todays market.

Didn't realize we were able to import alpha channels for objects or characters, I'll have to look into it...

what kinda rich person lans do you go to? :P

oh and these lans - i guess you all play FPSs or something like that? where a change of resolution is easy. Look at adventure games - highest so far of 1024 768 iirc - theres just no need for it in adventure games yet.

Also, with 3D first-person games, you can simply up the resolution and get a more detailed rendering. The same doesn't apply to 2D games, where the graphics all have to be drawn in more detail in order for a higher resolution to work.

As far as the current state of the industry and underlying economic considerations goes, this is not the appropriate time to launch a graphic adventure on the PC anyway. So, who needs AGS ;)

Gilbert

Hey Igor, I don't agree with you, as you know, AGS is becoming shareware, people should get what he thinks is worth that 100 bucks he paid (I even paid $150!), so CJ definately has the responsibility to keep his product on par of industry standard.

That said, I'll say AGS 3.0 may include also fingerprints recognition and voice driven controls at least.

I think it's enough of this discussion here in this forum.
