After poisoning the pie and given it to the guilders, I saved my game but afterwards I keep getting this error message:

An error has occurred. Please contact author for support as this problem is cause by game rather than the interpreter.
(ACI version 2.60.693)
(Global script line 661)
(Error: SetActiveInventory: player doesn't have any of that inventory).

I reloaded the game 3 times and still get same error message.

Is there anyway to continue with the game?

Thanks and I hope I posted in the right forum. :-\

Make sure that you have the latest version of the game, as there have been some bugs fixed in the latest release...

Where do you get latest release?  I really don't know what version I have.  I just downloaded this game from the AGS forum.

As the message says, please contact the game author - it's a scripting error, not a lot I can do.

strazer

Actually it doesn't say game author.
Better make it more clear.

Pumaman

Hehe actually this message has already been re-worded in the 2.61 betas, to the following:

"An error has occured. Please contact the game author for support, as this is likely to be a scripting error and not a bug in AGS."

Kinoko

I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but I'm almost certain that particular line of code is from the MI2 template. It makes it harder for me to figure out if it's my problem or not... I'll check it out later though, as I said.

Actually, here's a suggestion: could each AGS game have an "Author" variable that the user has to enter when creating a new game and it should be an email or link to PM on the forums... this could then pop up during such messages...?

It's a good idea, but I think it'd create problems when someone left the forums, or changed their email address. Once you've made a game, you're unlikely to want to go back years later and release a new version just to change the email address stored in it.

Then again, what do I know? ^_^;;

Pumaman

Interesting idea, but I'm not sure if it would work in practice - for reasons like Kinoko described. Really, game authors should include a readme file with their contact info.

SSH

Maybe the message can say "See the README/Documentation for contact details" then?

That would just lead to people posting saying "but there's no readme file!!". People must know where they got the game from, so finding the contact details themselves isn't really an unreasonable request.

I have had this error before as well while playing cirque de zale. I am now using the MI2 template for my game and hope I dont get the same bug with it. Proskrito, could you look into this please?
When I was a little kid we had a sand box. It was a quicksand box. I was an only child... eventually.
