Hi,
i have some ideas for game but i can't decide wich one to realize first (if any...). One story is placed in medieval age and other is SF in near future. What's your preference? Which setting is more interesting to you?
(Answers like "Whatever you want as long you made it good" are not helpfull)

History for me, never been to keen on sci-fi

SSH

How about both, like Micheal Crichton's Timeline book (not the film!)

Why not flesh out both possibilities a bit and see which one you can get more inspired with. At the moment, a four word description of the game doens't give me enough info to decide, as I like both SF and Medival...

If you ask me, I say that Sci-fi is even more interresting than history.

Moox

!!SPACE KNIGHTS!!
!!STAR SHIP JOUSTING!!

Both

Evil

I really like games that show what the world would be like if...

Heh, how about what 500 years from now would be like if electricity was never discovered? Heh, that would be a good one.

Minimi

history, with oldtimer cars, in an classic detective-adventure ala... Jack Orlando!!! Sherlock Holmes?!

DragonRose

I prefer history games to futuristic games.
Sssshhhh!!! No sex please, we're British!!- Pumaman

ElectricMonk

Go with the best of both worlds. There aren't enough steampunk adventures out there.

LordHart

You could do a Time Travelling game, and have it so you have to stop an evil dude giving Atomic Bazookas to King Richard the Lionheart before the Crusades... (although, you'd just be ripping off Doctor Who there). ;D

Mr_Frisby

I like the idea of games set in the past that have that whole magic skein around them but they also have way over developed technology -
They do some magic protection spell - and then drive off on thier motorized dragon scooter . .

(okay this has never happened but would still be cool)
Hey! All my awesome trophies dissapeared in the year since I was here last. CONSARN_IT! with an underscore!!! I earned dem tings!! Oh well. Hope your Monkey floats.

I'll try to describe this stories better

Story about history is set in medieval age. It's inspired by the book "Name of The Rose" by Umberto Eco. I wrote about this idea some time ago. Meanwhile i've learned to draw good enough to make atmosphere right.
Main character is called to help solve murders in monastery. But soon he discovers that monastery is hiding dark secrets...
It's not exact copy of Eco's novel. I will take some characters (personalities to be precise) and general atmosphere to my game, anything else is my own scenario.

SF story is set on Earth after genetic wars where land is devastated and remaining people living in isolated tribes. Main character is member of one such tribe... After people in his willage start dying, he will try to find a cure. As he travels, he will find that Earth was different before...

So, that's general idea. I hope you like it.

Well, that already sounds like an interesting combination of SF and history.

The history story sounds slightly more interesting with the mystery and intrigue aspect. But the SF concept could work, it's just whether you could make a devastated environment interesting and not too samey for the length of a game.

Both have a strong objective (solve murders, or find cure) and potentially intriguing settings that, as far as I remember, haven't been done too much before in AGS. My inkling is for the monastery idea because I really love mystery stories in adventure games.

But I still like that idea better...

Oh, that's way this sounds familiar ;)
But i will change brown color to green and that's whole new story.
I'm kiding... I got my idea from two SF books, not from Fallout. Any similiarity is purely coincidental.
