Here are some pics from a game that me and a couple of my cousins are going to try and make (at least work on alot this summer - it could take forever).  When my cousin and I played Maniac Mansion on his Commodore 64 when I was like in 2nd grade we always knew we wanted to make a game.  This game is going to be huge and awesome or never get finished.  I've had the puzzles in my head and have been adding them since my 7th grade year.  Let me know what you think of these pics.

If someone could help me with the shelves in the video store I would appreciate it alot.

Nice screens, but you need to change the ariel font on the 'lackluster' screen, it just looks as if youve picked the 1st font youve seen. Try to find a font similar to BLockbusters, to give it some brand association. Also the babers could do with a little more detail, it looks a little too much like a circus tent at the moment.

It is a circus tent, look at the blockbuster outside screen

It looks like you change your style from background to background. Still, it looks like a pretty decent game!

Yeah I'm drawing and my cousin is drawing. Which backgrounds do you like the most and which do you not like?  Would the change in style be so distracting you wouldn't want to play the game?

HillBilly

One thing that would help is to change the black outlines on the lowest backgrounds.

One of you can draw interiors and one can draw exteriors, that way there isnt a noticeable change

LostTraveler that sounds like a novel idea.Ã,  What do you think about a game that has cartoony outdoor graphics but more my style inside?Ã,  Would that be wierd or what?Ã,  By the way my cousin is the one that actually has artisic ability - he drew the outside fanny pack store location and the character. The problem is he can flat out draw but never has any time to do it.Ã,  And me, I have no artisic ability but I do have some time on my hands.Ã,  Do you think I should try to move forward with the game with my art style and just leave his out for consistency, even though I like his art better? Or should I wait on him to get out his one or maybe two rooms per month? (The game is supposed to be huge - probably like 35 screens 20 interior and 15 exteriors - at least) I've been working on the puzzles in my head for about 10 years and just found AGS a few months ago and actually decided I might possibly be able to make this game afterall.

I love your interiors, as well as your cousins exteriors. It would be great to see them mixed. I cant really answer your question about what you should do tho, it really depends on if you want the game done sooner, or if you want it to be what you consider better.

I have made a decision to not use my cousin's more cartoony style even though I like it better.  It really just came down to me wanting to work on the game which is really hard if you have no backgrounds. I think I'm going to have some screens isometric like the top OfficeLobby picture and some in 1 point perspective like the video store.  I personally think it adds variety and doesn't distract.  What do you guys think of that?  To me its just like another way of letting the scene have a dramatic angle or something - kinda like a movie.  My cousin will still be drawing all the characters (think goodness) and will probably still draw some backgrounds though hopefull their won't be a huge difference between ours.  He actually drew the outlines for the inside of the video store which i like except for the shelves and counter and I did the horrible color job that I'm going to redo.  Anyways keep those comments coming.  If I'm going to add more pictures do I add them to this thread or should I start a new one.

Why don't you get him to do qucik drawings/sketches then you can scan them in and copy them? Then we're all happy:)
