Well, I made an attempt to draw a Monolith Burger Drive-Through sign, SQ3 style, but it doesnt look all that much like Space Quest 3.   Can I have some C an' C to help improve this?

Edit: It is meant to be seen from inside the Aluminum Mallard, hence the two grey bars

I think its because you've used too much of the "shading" on the sign. Try using more flat colours and see if that helps, especially on yhr blue part.

Ultimo:  Yeah, the shading needs some reconstructive surgery.  *sigh*  Hopefully that'll will fix it.  Thanks!

LostTraveler:  Haha.  Yeah, that would help.  *hits himself with a large trout*

I'll post an updated version soon...first: homework.

Sigh, this drawing really has too much shading. It goes under " Unreal Low Resolution ".
Moving at superhigh speed getting to the planet called Earth. But it is boxed in white......thing.....

LordHart

What kind of critique is that? It sounds like you are bashing the Tikkis art style more than addressing things that could be a bit better...

Pfft... your post. It goes under " Unreal Low Intelligence... "

ArtJoe

i like the shading, but it should be more consistent throughout..so subtract a little from the inner panels and maybe add a bit to the outer, with the M it should seem alot more monolith burger.

Looks pretty good. Add some darker shadows falling across the background behind the sign... this will help the sign stand out more. By the way, I'm also a fan of halftone dithering.

I think its great, i dont mind the shading.  the only thing that is bothering me is tha the perspective is really wacky.  the sign is not perpendicular with the edge of the "space road", which it should be.  Also, the bars...the lower bar gets larger on the right side making me think its nearer but i think more logically it would be farther away.  The upper bar is like "coming at me!  aahhh"  I think the bars should be parallel with the road, and all in the same plane.

Relight

What I don't get is what the sign is attached to, and also it's attached at a weird angle, and the slab of turquoise in the background that it's attached to is also weird. It might help to take this from a slightly different angle... imagine the coolest way that you could show a drive through window screen... and after all, Roger can't just stick his hand through the glass and get the food.

Tiki

Yeah, you guys are right.  Well, I had nearly perfected giving this the "SQ3 style" when I read Relight's post.  He has a point.  So...back to the drawing board.  I may use this background somehow in the drivethrough scene, but at the moment, it seems useless.  Thanks anyways, your help will surely influence my future backgrounds!
