I have problem with my computer.

Problem:

My computer automatically get launched with 16 colours and 640 x 480 size.
It haven't done this, ever!
It should open as 256 colours and 1024 x 768 size.
I have re-booted my computer something about 13 times, but it doesn't help!
I even took power off from my computer and then putted it back on, but nothing happens.
When I try to fix it, computer messages me, that I must re-boot my computer to get my fixes to work.
Well, of course I re-boot my computer by clicking OK, but still, after re-booting...
Well, you know... :P

What is wrong with my piece of ****?
This didn't do this yesterday, and no one have used this, except me now...

Start by getting an OS where you don't have to reboot after changing the resolution of the screen.

Apart from that, I have no idea what to do.

I've seen this. When the computer reboots to this, check through the control panel that you're display driver is installed correctly. I got a GeForce2 to boot 16 col on a nearly new computer, because there were no drivers, so I headed to NVidia site and downloaded the drivers.

So I say, drivers first. You sure it's not booting into safe mode..?
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

Safe mode boots in 640x480 resolution, so that's not likely. However, as TK said, your drivers are a likely candidate. Make sure your monitor drivers and your video card drivers are up-to-date...

Safe mode resolution.

Also, check that someone hasn't switched the monitor cable into the wrong connector, i.e. if your computer has a separate graphics card, which has drivers installed and stuff, and someone has taken the cable out and put it back to the integrated card connector, which might not for some reason have drives properly set up.

and then disable this "reboot before changes take effect" checkbox.
display properties => advanced => ?general? (got a german windows, but should be the visible page) => the second of the three radioboxes (something like don't restart before changes take effect or apply new settings without restart)
... it's quite easy being the best.

I weren't in safe mode!

Anyway, computer's working again.
I updated my system and that's it!
I can now even listen to midis!!!

Thanx anyway. ;)
