Man, it hasn't even been a day since my last scan and I already have 381 things of spyware on my desktop..thankfully my laptops clean...well better start deleting...anybody know of a really really good(freeware) firewall?

AGA

A firewall won't stop spyware. But you can get a good, free firewall here. A good way of protecting against getting so many spywares is to use Spybot: Search and Destroy then click 'immunise', which will block all the more well-known spywares from getting on your PC. You'll still get a few spywares, but you should get a lot fewer...

Get spyware blaster and spybot search and destroy
great programs for spyware protection , prevention , and detection and best of all , they're free!

oh yeah , and of course , whenever you're told by windows or see something about an update , get that update!

I know that a firewall wont stop spyware....I just want a good one , but when it comes down to the spyware issue...I'm making notes now what each one is and what it does...you know, for future reference ;)

I use Ad-Aware in conjunction with Spybot S&D, which many people reccomend as the best way to get rid of spyware.  I scan like once a week or so, and get rid of my spyware like that. Oh and be careful using programs like Kazza as they come with spyware. If you use Kazza get the Kazaa Lite version. There are many other programs with spyware, just be careful of them.

I use Adaware.   But yeah...my sis is a big fan of kazaa, and her boyfriend likes warez, but no matter what he (and they) say about it not haveing spyware unless you let them install it, is a load of crap...I used visual c++ to "open it up", Nothing but Spyware installs and backdoors to everything on your pc...same with kazaa. Thanks, I think I'll look into that Spybot S&D program.

Oh, and thanks AGA for the firewall link

I tried Kazaa Lite once , it wouldn't let me use it because I had the anti-spyware programs on...so I don't like KL either.
Then again I'd love to have something like Kazaa since it's the only way I can get the music I like that is near impossible or impossible to get commercially or whatever anymore. ( such as 80's music )
I know I'm probably just being silly but I am not sure if I should get the "paid for" version or not since...well..I can kinda understand spyware for a free version but would they be obnoxious enough to have spyware in the paid for version too?!
Hmmm.
???
:-[
I am going to check the price again since I forgot anyway how much the paying version costs.

Don't get the paid version, its not worth it
I cracked it and "opened" it up, its the same thing pretty much

--Edit---
29.95 I think

There's a program out there called warez..some spyware, but nowhere near what kazaa has...its free and it uses kazaa's p2p search engine
