I wouldn't underestimate Germany. It's typical tournament team. They are often pathetic in qualification and friendly test matches but then they make it big when important duels come.

Matt Brown

Germany is a lot like Brazil. they are often unmotivated in qualifying, but they turn up the heat when they need do.
The Germans had an awsome team in the last world cup, and France was pathetic (didnt they lose to world soccer power senegal??) France, Germany, Italy, England will be strong, with Portugal, Spain and rising Sweeden not that far behind.
I wish I could watch the matches across the pond, but its baseball season. :( so no soccer for me.
is there a website where I can check scores? I love international footy

SSH, I'm glad you'll be supporting England. I'm actually English, & so I support them, but none of my friends do - some of them actually hope England LOSE, which I completely don't understand. I can understand not supporting them, but what is the point in specifically going out of your way to HATE them?

Anyway, I'm not a big football fan in general.

I mostly wanted to post this.

They deserved that present. They really needed it.Ã,  ;)

1. Brazil 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002
2. Germany 1954, 1974, 1990
3. Italy 1934, 1938, 1982
4. Argentina 1978, 1986
5. Uruguay 1930, 1950
6. France 1998
7. England 1966

TheDude

The only reason I don't support England is because they think they're going to win the cup every single time, even though they haven't won anything since 1966. It's all "I think we've got the squad to win it this year", but they never do. Soon there will be 100 football programmes on about their 1966 win too.

I normally support Holland as my second team, but they normally underperform so i end up supporting one of the underdogs. During the world cup I ended up supporting Korea.

1994, Lucasfan :PPPPP

Matt Brown

what happened in 1994 vel? (my) Brazil still won beating Italy in a thrilling match in PKs. Did Bulgaria beat Germany then or something?

also, forgive my stupid american question, but the top two teams from each group advance correct?

Yes, but the team that finishes 2nd plays one of the teams that finishes 1st, which means if you finish first you essentially play an "easier" team. At least i think so...

Vel, Bulgaria needs a star to do as well as the team of 1994. And Berbatov is hardly a Stoichkov.

I'd say that, despite not having it's 'stars" (like Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho, Kaká...), Brazil has many chances to...

WHAT?????
THIS ISN'T ABOUT "COPA AMERICA"?????????

Ok, Ok!
I haven't been seeing the matches with European teams lately but if I had to pick one my bet would be France.
As Barcik said, they made a 'fiasco' during 2002's World Cup but they still have EXCELLENT players (including the one I consider one of - if not THE - best football player of nowadays - 'Zizu').

So, yeah, I'd say France.

Don't blame me - I didn't know it!   (I have the feeling this will come handy...)

Vel

Panda, in 1994 Bulgaria beat Germany 2-1 in the 1/4finals.
Barcik, he's got 19 goals in 29 matches for the international team, thus proving to be a talented striker. If you need a star, turn towards Stillian Petrov.

Minimi

aaargh... I can't stand this topic!!

Football isn't what it was, back in the seventies. It is dead now, and not fun anymore. If you look back in time in '74 WC, you see that for example Holland, but also other lands, played with their hearts. It was far more tough!

Now they are a bunch of amateur bitches, and lets not get on anyone's neck, so I'll say I only speak for Holland. Today the ball get's played around just to keep the ball. Holland sucks, and thats probably why I follow it with one eye closed.

I don't understand in the first place whats so fun on watching stupid "pro" players with a nice car and 10.000 wifes, play a stupid ball between some poles.

*minimi smashed himself with keyboard to head...
